“And what is incorrect about that interpretation of US history?”

I know. I pretty much have been reaching this conclusion on my own. It’s good to know I’m not alone. I’ll have to check them out.

The auto and biker retro-fitters of today are the modern example of the blacsmith’s trade of yesteryear. The same could be said for those who sculpt in wrought iron.

But, the simple fact is, iron is malleable when heated to certain temperatures. And those temperatures are nowhere near those put forth by Truthers in their ridiculous arguments. If a blacksmith can heat a piece of iron on his furnace to be malleable, then those arguments are worthless.

The New Republic is hostile to all real conservatives

I don't like Paul and his foreign policy stances but it's not just TNR that doesn't like real conservatives....I would say nowadays a majority of those who freep don't either....a slim one thankfully but far stronger than pre-9/11

TNR was a big breeding ground for Neo Conservatism....the particular style which is pretty strong on this forum thou TNR is more of a moderate liberal joint....there was a small exodus from there to Neo Conservatism in the 80s....Chuck, Fred, Mort (sorta), PJ, etc.....

and no I don't mean Jews though admittedly they have a presence in Neo Conservatism ....

this crap really bugs me....we are so handicapped about candor regarding protected groups....I had a Colin Powell-Obama post yanked last nite for simply posting the obvious...Obama...half white....Powell...always sorta lib.....why he was ever loved here beats me

Well, there’s the stuff in the New Republic articles, which we have here.

There is also the article WHICH I HAVE PERSONALLY READ in which the Ron Paul Freedom Report states that a cabal of “New York City Bankers” and their allies are seeking to control our government from within in order to assist their allies in Israel. Awesome!

Now....
Maybe it’s a stretch......
but I’m just assuming that “New York City Bankers” is simply yet another example of nutball shorthand for “DA JOOOOOOOS”.
I know, I know, sounds far fetched, but the “DA JOOS” are one of the oldest, most tried and true forms of wackery out there.

Several of the articles I perused in Spencer Library, explained how the American economy would collapse.
In 1985.
Or 1989.
Or was it 1994?

Doesn’t matter. In any event the only thing I could do was to BUY MORE GOLD and hide from the “URBAN HORDES” and assorted welfare masses that would come to get me.

Now again, I’m assuming “urban” and “welfare” is merely another use of keywords, wink wink, nod nod.
We all know who we are talking about right?

A few more gems from the Freedom Report involved international cabals, vast dark global conspiracies that are aligning against people like me!
It’s like Democratic Underground at 3:00am, except no profanity.

Granted, not all of the stuff was completely insane. And some times Ron Paul (or his mystery writers) actually made some sense.
And granted, I only read a few of them myself one afternoon after being tipped off by a friend last semester as to their humor potential. It also helps explain why Ron Paul would never, ever, be elected President of the United States.

And admittedly, I didn’t do a systematic survey of everything the guy (or the aforementioned mystery writer guy) has written.

But I read enough to realize Ron Paul is a nut or hangs out with nuts.
I also decided, based on my own readings, that Ron Paul or a mysterious someone he associates himself with, doesn’t like blacks, jews or gays very much. Sorry, not Jews, Zionist Bankers, dangit.

Oh, I also learned that I should BUY MORE GOLD!

hehe.

It is shocking. Not only are a substantial portion of Freepers imbued with the premises of Liberalism, they feel haughty enough to demonstrate the rank tools of Liberalism. It is all to service an end, rather than coming forth from the well of principles (which used to be a good starting point on how to define a conservative). If it weren’t so nauseating, it would make you feel kind of lonely...

I googled the author of your article. He is a log cabin republican, gay activist/extremist, liberal, 2006 National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association’s Excellence in Student Journalism award winner, LA Times columnist and Giuliani shill. Hardly an unbiased or honest source.

Below are some of his articles. I feel filthy from even viewing this site. But I guess he is your “kind of people”.

http://www.indegayforum.org/staff/show/98.html

Watching you cheer on this fraudulent “January Surprise” attempt and watching FauxNews actions erodes my faith in the selection process. I suppose you would embrace any log cabin republican, as long as Giuliani gets nominated.

His position, consistently, has been to abandon Israel — starting with starting a coalition that forced Reagan to withdraw from Lebanon and leave it in shambles (for the terrorists to take over) on Israel’s border.

Interesting. Where did he say that?

I'm not really up on the his campaign, but I saw an interview of him and he pointed out that we give more aid to the Arab states than we do to Israel and that he's in favor of stopping it to both. He also pointed out that he believed that we hold Israel back from dealing more harshly with threats to them...and I have to agree with him.

Paul is responsible for every word in a newsletter that bears his name.

Wow! I sure feel sorry for Jim Robinson if that standard is applied to FR, which could be said to bear his name. Despite the home page's quite clear disclaimer, there are comments that are posted that could be dragged up years from now. When I was an editor of a political journal, I disagreed strongly with many of the things published.

"Thanks for the laugh at your expense. Very funny."

"I am pining for a Paultard purge in conjunction with a Freeperthon. I am willing to pay extra to FR for each Paultard purged."

Funnier still for you to think that Jim Robinson's politics can be bought!

“Poor Ron Paul. Never pursued legal action against these anonymous souls who used his name in such a disgusting manner.”

Nor has Ron Paul pursued legal action against the neo-nazi, white supremist website called Stormfront for puting a Ron Paul for President Banner up on every page at their website. PS. There is also a button to click to contribute to the Ron Paul campaign.

I watched the show also last night. Jay Leno specifically asked Ron Paul to name a Democrat. Here is the video. I dare you to watch it. What Democrat would you have mentionede if asked by the Jay Leno?

Dare me to watch it? I already did, last night. Yes, Leno specifically asked Ron Paul to name a Democrat that he could work with. RP said that, while he didn't agree with all of his positions...yada yada yada...Dennis Kucinich. MY POINT was the reaction of the audience. It was obvious to me that the same voices in the audience hooting for RP gave a hearty cheer at the name Kucinich. What does that tell you? A good number of Ron Pauls supporters also support Kucinich, that's what. Who would I name? I don't work in Washington so I don't work with any of them.

**Update**
Well lookey here, The National Review decided to call the campaign’s bluff. They have provided scanned copies of all the news letters, and several have signatures. One, the Solicitation Letter, is not only signed and written in the first person, it refers to the other news letters that the campaign claimed to not know about. Some of these also have additional stories by Carol Paul in the same issue, written in the first person.

“I think he’s a fellow Christian. I think he’s pro-life.”

Ron Paul is a Libertarian through and through.
To his Purist Interpretation of the Constitution he believes its not up to the Federal Government to abolish abortion. States will decide to have abortions or not.

If Ron Paul gets elected we will have to send our out-of -wedlock daughters over Statelines where abortion is legal....or we can revive Shot Gun Weddings.....

Imagine this with a Shot Gun Wedding! What if the couple wants to celebrate their wedding with family and friends and couldn’t get certain items for the reception? What will they do if they live in a State that prohibits the sales of tobacco? Imagine they live in a Vegan State! Can’t buy any meat products. No Steak, no burgers...nothing!

Imagine the smuggling industry bringing in Swedish Meatballs and Cigars to your special wedding day?

What will Ron Paul do with Renegade States who become a Black Pleather Boot Police State?

“In other words, Paul’s campaign wants to depict its candidate as a naïve, absentee overseer, with minimal knowledge of what his underlings were doing on his behalf.”

And this guy wants to run our country!

More accurately, Ron Paul supports strangers transporting minors across lines to purchase and abortion without parental permission.
