Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee won the first Republican primary of the 2008 election last week, but many top conservatives are not happy, with some calling him a "christian socialist" and others a "Republican Jimmy Carter."

Agreed!
Liberal Policies, be it Hucknannies or Hillary's will send this country into the toliet.
If Hucknanny is president then Republicans/Conservatives will get the blame and in 2010 the Democrats will win even more seats and 2012 we will have a Dem POTUS
If Hillary/Obama is president at least the blame will fall squarely where it belongs, on the Liberals!! But at we can make some gains back in 2010 and get the POTUS in 2012
Shhhhhhh :-)
You did much more research than I. When I discovered that Huck was from Hope, AR, that was enough to drive me out of Camp Huckabee. One President from Hope, AR is all I can stand for one lifetime...and I've been to Hope, AR!
Huck's nanny-statism (national law banning smoking in public places) confirmed it.
I'm a Fredhead, but I could live with Rudy or Mitt. I once said that about McCain, but when Senator McNasty again revealed himself during Saturday's debate, I realized we can't have such a venal and condescending man occupying the Oval Office.
Good for you. Then the efforts of your post are obviously premature. I'd suggest thinking it through a little harder. I don't share your assessment and personally I don't share your enthusiasm for Huckabee's "charisma".
So you really don't know. You've not really compared Clinton and Huckabee's platforms, have you? You really shouldn't be attempting to engage in a serious discussion.
I believe the Dems are going to deny us the chance to defeat Hillary. Obama can only be defeated by ideas and Huckabee's record will be exposed so badly by the media he will be crushed.
Hucks supporters are fooling themselves into believing guys like Rush hate Huck personally, but just as Romney will be exposed in the general so will Huckabee. The only difference is Romney could get the Rino vote, Huck wont because he's so self righteous it will turn them off. He wont get the conservative vote because he is a fiscal liberal and a nanny stater.
Huckabee v. Obama? I threw up in my mouth just now.
You hit it dead on sir!
The Huckleberries and their class warfare...gotta love em.
Rush, IMHO, has morphed into a northeastern conservative.
“So, for now, some should ease up a little on Huckabee.”
Huck sucks.
What most people seem to ignore is that the role of a Governor or the Mayor of a large city is drastically different from the constitutional role of the President.
Things like health care programs and education programs are within the authority of the state and local governments. They are not part of the role of the federal government.
Foreign policy and border security are roles of the federal government, not of the state governments.
If we elect Governors to become president, we are likely to get presidents that will continue to spread the authority of the federal government into areas that are supposed to be reserved to the states, because those are the issues that they have dealt with as governors. However they are far less likely to have experience in foreign policy, military, or border issues.
Fred has foreign policy experience. He has considerably more actual experience in the Federal government than either Hillary or Obama.
Huckabee is an experienced state governor, but that experience really doesn't prepare him well for the office of President.
Romney is better off because of his business experience gives him a considerably broader base of experience, however he is still lacking on many important policy issues and it shows in the lack of depth in his plans on how to address difficult issues.

Interesting. Makes sense, too.
The more I see of Huckabee, the less I like him.
HOWEVER
The more Rush, Laura and Hugh continue to insult me, the less likely I am to change my mind about voting for him.
To me abortion is the not only the #1 moral issue. As a Christian, I believe that God not only judges individuals, but he also judges nations. If our nation is at emnity with God, because of the unfathomable abomination of abortion=child sacrifice, how long can we expect him to bless us and protect us?
It is also the #1 economic issue, because people, the producers of goods and services, are our most valuable economic asset. In a free market, capatalistic society, people must be viewed as assets and not as liabilities (as in a socialistic society). You cannot take advantage of economies of scale by depleting the scale.
It is also the #1 national defense issue. Because the core of a national defense is is built with soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. The military is stuggling with recruitment, not only because of the war (as the MSM would have us believe) but also because of a nation of more and more selfish single child parents who actively deter their children from joining.
My generation has been decimated by abortion. The subsequent generations are being decimated (or worse) by abortion Our economy and defense is enervated by every day that the United States suffers of 9/11 worth (avg 4000) of lost souls every day! Abortion is not a "single issue", it's a nation and culture bent on suicide.
Very sadly, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul are the only candidates with any credability on stopping the bleeding.
Well, that's the problem with electing governors as presidents.
The federal government and the state governments are supposed to have different realms of authority. Being a governor doesn't really prepare someone to be president. It does tend to give us big government presidents that use the power of the federal government to address issues that are supposed to be dealt with by the state and over which the federal government has no constitutional authority.
It's not a red herring. Bush's foreign policy has been highly influenced by others on his administration because Bush didn't have the experience to form his own policies. We really couldn't tell much about how Bush would deal with foreign policy issues until he appointed his staff, and his policy often seems inconsistent due to being sometimes greatly influenced by close advisers he brought with him, and sometimes mostly influenced by career diplomats in the State Department.
