As we enter the eighth year of the Bush-Cheney administration, I have belatedly and painfully concluded that the only honorable course for me is to urge the impeachment of the president and the vice president.
After the 1972 presidential election, I stood clear of calls to impeach President Richard M. Nixon for his misconduct during the campaign. I thought that my joining the impeachment effort would be seen as an expression of personal vengeance toward the president who had defeated me.
Today I have made a different choice.
Of course, there seems to be little bipartisan support for impeachment. The political scene is marked by narrow and sometimes superficial partisanship, especially among Republicans, and a lack of courage and statesmanship on the part of too many Democratic politicians. So the chances of a bipartisan impeachment and conviction are not promising.
But what are the facts?
Bush and Cheney are clearly guilty of numerous impeachable offenses. They have repeatedly violated the Constitution. They have transgressed national and international law. They have lied to the American people time after time. Their conduct and their barbaric policies have reduced our beloved country to a historic low in the eyes of people around the world. These are truly "high crimes and misdemeanors," to use the constitutional standard.
From the beginning, the Bush-Cheney team's assumption of power was the product of questionable elections that probably should have been officially challenged -- perhaps even by a congressional investigation.

Plus most governments in the free world have elected governments that support Bush, and many other govts are working with Bush - France, Germany, South Korea, Canada, Pakistan, Kuwait, Iraq, etc.
He fell into the moonbat zone somewhere around 1971 or 1972.
Is this psychotic dementia or does this leftist windbag KNOW how many absurd, dishonest, incompetent assertions are contained in this loony diatribe? Either way, George McGovern is joke, an embarrassment to this nation and to humanity. That is, he sounds just like a poster on DU or DailyKosFreaks.
LOL! Same George... different title.
Thought I'd post over here with an obligatory photo. : )
Ewww how gross
Ha-Ha! The McGovern-boy is a LOOOOSSERRR! (Jon Lovitz voice)
I have belatedly and painfully concluded that the only honorable course for me is to urge the impeachment of ALL the Democrat candidates for president.
He's 85 years old, and he probably forgot that he said that.
He's probably forgotten the names of his children, too...
I could get banned from this forum INSTANTLY for filling in the blanks on "the rightful course for an American patriot" in today's America.
This is a joke, right?
Massachusetts.
He also won in D.C. Of course, no Republican has ever won in D.C. (they first got to vote in presidential elections after the adoption of the 23rd Amendment in the early 1960s).
McGovern was a bomber pilot in WWII. He didn't start to become a crackpot until the late 1940s or early 1950s.
He reached full moonbat status by the late 1960s.
Good to know—thanks for the input.
The moonbats fell hook line and sinker for the Lancet study hoax
