There seems to be a bit of jealousy between the Dinosaur press and Fred. He has been far more successful than any of the Barking Heads.

I have tried my best to make a good case here that there are closer to 38 million than 12 according to good evidence. I think your number is much closer to correct. It's like the uninsured number. They just keep repeating it with absolutely no evidence that it is correct (and it isn't), and no one challenges them on it.
Only the United States government has the time, money, expertise and hubris required to calculate exactly what it doesn't know - to three decimal places. And the ability to memorize the number and related instructions, so the result can be repeated forever.
And from what I understand, a college degree in journalism does not require any math courses, or economics. So any reporting related to numbers or the economy requires a faith-based regurgitation of statistics, along with a willing suspension of disbelief.

That’s the big problem I have. I can not force myself to get the slightest bit interested in local politics. I am completely open about it on the exec. committee and my Republican Club, both give me pass but I always have a guilty conscience.

I have no doubt of your computer expertise. You prove it week after week. And there is no question that it's hard if not down right difficult to believe anything heard on the msm. Just look at Anita's Nuggets week after week to watch their demise in living color. They are going down the tubes and no once can claim they aren't.
One thing I try and remember having almost 30 years in broadcasting and over that in journalism is that both newspapers, radio/tv have lots of time to fill. In some cases 24 hours per day.
During that time you are going to hear an awful lot of BS,there is just no other way to put it.

Remember with the msm/dbm its agenda first and foremost everything else takes a backseat.

You are welcome. Your stuff is far more than “interesting” its “vital” to what is being done on this site and no one does it as good as you do.

That’s very kind of you RodGuy911 and I appreciate it, but actually; a lot more people do it a heck of a lot better than me. We just don’t hear from them as often — more low key.

Fred Thompson, who entered the campaign a few months ago, has consistently polled within the margin of error of the top two and three candidates. Britt Hume, Fox, and re the rest of the msm(Britt and Fox are MSM((sad but true))report what they want you to know and refrain from reporting what they'd just as soon you not know...... Brilliant stuff had to be reposted!!

Congrats, Maica.
You probably know it is my theory that the Sunday Mornng Talk Shows only exist so that we can have this thread!

I also have 12 pages excerpted from the book "The Social Contract" by James H. Walsh a former US /Fed. Prosecutor and U.S. German Marshall Fund scholar on immigration.
I have documented this argument over and over on this weekly thread and really don't feel the need to do so each and every time I post a reference to his 36 million plus 2 million visa overstays number on the illegal issue. But it's doable if you need it.

Thanks to you both for the kind comments. As usual, I have found your posts to be very worth the read.
I am becoming more and more convinced that the American electorate is increasingly susceptible to candidates whose mannerisms and speech conform to that of commercial spokespersons whom the broadcast industry has long employed to hawk its ridiculous, and in many cases, subversive tripe.
I can still recall the disgust I felt when Walter Cronkite was first referred to as the "most trusted man in America." However, to be fair, Ronald Reagan was put to good use by the Pubs.
Our society is on the go with lots to do and many toys to divert voters from investing the time necessary to get at the truth. Times are good, and most folks want their politics served up just as they want their fast food-- quick and easy. And hey, if a slick candidate can also blow on a sax or pick a guitar, why not go for him? Ok, that's enough cynicism for today. Take care.

I know it is not what the early states want to hear but they all really are not that relevant to winning the nomination. Reminds me of family gatherings, you let the little kids do their acts at the beginning of the event, then they are over and the adults run the show from that point forward.

LOL. I see numbers and my mind shuts down. I still loved the entire post, my deficiencies notwithstanding.
Please remember, I composed this post for "the great unwashed" (all two of them) that actually read my blog. Also remember my admitting to my math mistakes. I'm simply hoping that my deficiencies don't negate my point!
Thank you for the comment, though.
P.S. my Dad is now conscious. My sister, with him in Palo Alto, has been really concerned because he had been "comatose" in the 24 hours after his surgery (he's now doing better 48 hours after the surgery). He's 89 years old, for goodness sakes! He is 90% likely to "go on to glory" any random day for any of a billion reasons! This event increases the chances from 90% to 90.1%.
That doesn't mean that it's not messing with me and I appreciate all of my friends here more than ever.
