One of the candidates has long ago taken the position that he will enforce the laws on immigration. (Guess which one)

“Are you aware that romney MANDATED insurance coverage while he was governor? That’s not getting the gov’t. out of health ins”

Oh yes. I don’t trust Mitt for a second but am glad he said government needs to be out of healthcare. It’s just a shame his walk and talk are different. Sorry, I should have clarified my post before hitting the “Post” button.

I am always shocked when I hear politicians, even Republican politicians, discuss health care.

Tonight I heard the 47 million uninsured problem again. This is a point prevalence figure. Only about 21 million people are uninsured for the entire year. Of these 20% are illegal aliens, 20% are eligible for Medicaid but have not applied and about 7-10% make $50-75,000 a year. Incidentally, almost all the uninsured after correcting the figures as above, are young people.

Good luck to anyone who believes an HMO can prevent anything. I once capitated a large HMO for Mental Health and managed the inpatient confinements. While we sold policies as preventative, we quickly discovered that yearly physicals, paying for Weight Watchers was cost ineffective.

He have the most advance and successful health care system in history. Correct for our large indigent minority population and are statistics are comparable or better than anyones regardless of claims otherwise.

By the way, note how the politicians always talk about “lacking health insurance” and not lacking health care.

When they discuss emergency rooms, always remember that up to 30% of physicians in some areas will no longer take any or any additional patients with these plans. These individuals use emergency rooms as a last resort.

If you are on Medicare, you will find it hard (in many areas) to find a physician. The politicians won’t pay the doctors enough to see you, so they don’t.

Like President Reagan said, the problem is the government. Mandates, skyrocketing malpractice payments and skimpy payments to Medicare, Medicaid, etc are all part of the problem not solutions.

This whole issue will blow up in the government’s face. Like Canada and the UK average, middle class people who now get the best health care will soon get more taxes and a waiting list.
