MANCHESTER, N.H. -- With little time to recover from Iowa's presidential caucuses before Tuesday's New Hampshire primary, a bruised Hillary Clinton faces her nightmare scenario: Barack Obama could unite anti-Clinton Democrats to seal the party's nomination in coming weeks.
Seven in 10 Iowa Democrats in Thursday night's caucuses supported someone other than New York's Sen. Clinton. Among those who showed up supporting the second-tier candidates, very few listed her as their second choice. In the end, she finished third, losing not just to Sen. Obama but, by a sliver, to John Edwards, the former North Carolina senator who had made the state the linchpin of his populist candidacy.
Now, the Clinton campaign is scrambling to reassess its strategy, and whether to more aggressively attack Sen. Obama. "Does everyone know everything they need to know about Barack Obama?" her chief strategist, Mark Penn, asked a handful of reporters on a glum overnight flight from Iowa to New Hampshire. "She's fully vetted, fully tested, and I don't think that process has occurred with Barack Obama."

he major Clinton-Obama showdown will likely come on Feb. 5, which is shaping up as a near-national primary day. More than 20 states will vote, including her home state, New York, his home state, Illinois, and California.
Several Democratic strategists unaffiliated with any campaign said on Friday that Sen. Clinton could lose in the early states and still clinch the nomination on Feb. 5. To do so, they said, she must focus on burnishing her own image in the coming month, and she must resist the temptation to tar Sen. Obama.

I am going to focus on burnishing my own image and resist the temptation to tar Obama
She's already tarred Iowans for not supporting her. Not tarring anyone simply isn't in the Clinton playbook.
The authors are apparently clueless over the use of the word ‘tar’ in reference to Obama. They themselves could be cited for an indirect ‘tar baby’ reference.
Poor Hillary, stuck between a rock and a hard place.
If she doesn’t attack Obama, his support grows and he wins.
But if she does attack him, she’s doing the “same old politics of personal destruction” that everyone is sick of - so his support grows and he wins.
“Poor” Hillary. All I can say is ....
“Bring more popcorn!!”
Oh, man, am I loving this. The only thing that could make it better would be a televised Hillary! meltdown, complete with lamp throwing.
Hey hillary....
...better put some ice on that....!
It’s a tricky kind of thing. Maybe she should send in the first black President?
I woud be veeeewwwy careful how you attack that wabbit, seems like everything that is up for grabs she does it worser ... You don’t want to tick off the big “O”.
Three extra large bags of popcorn should be sufficient. Sit back and watch the show.
Or you could say Hillary is stuck between Barack and a hard place.
This is from the WSJ. They have very smart people over there. The choice of that particular word was deliberate and is a very pointed reference to what Hillary! is capable of doing.
As hard as Vince, or even harder?
Another avenue could be to go after Edwards first; eliminate the second-tier candidate. See how the negative line works before using it on Obama. But there’s no time for that for the NH primary. It’s Obama or bust.
Oops. I hate using that word (bust) when it comes to Shrillery. It brings up very bad images.
Sure. I'm just pointing out that had such a term been used by someone from the GOP, all kinds of racist alarm bells would go off.
Headline should be: Hillary sanctions a hit on Obama
Don't throw me in that briar patch!
Good for Republicans, I guess, who will be the beneficiaries of the Clinton dirt-digging team.
GOP: Take Notes.
Tar is definitely the wrong word...but then...that’s Hillary opening her mouth.
No matter how hard she tries, she is still Hillary Clinton: shrill, rigid, phony, a bitch.
Nobody, not even moonbat dems want a crackling bitch who reminds them of their over bearing mother in law as POTUS
She toast
