This is from John F. Kennedy's Inaugaral address....

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty. 4 This much we pledge—and more.

That pretty much says it all.......

remember when a demonrat had some balls?

At any rate, that is why we are in Iraq!!!

If people care at all about posterity (that means your children and their children and so on) then they would be fully supportive of what we are doing in Iraq and elsewhere.

People baffle me with their enunciated lockstep liberal anti military mindset everywhere (it seems) that I go.

We constantly hear the stories of death and destruction, but rarely hear the stories of success and friendship. More and more, these successes are continuing to accumulate. The number of terrorist acts have dramatically decreased as more Iraqis are trained and as the responsibility for security transitions to their forces.

There is a battle for the hearts and minds of the people. Those who win that battle win the war.

A wonderful honorable man...but he should not equate Islam to the other religions.

Christianity does not have the “same roots and similar beliefs” as Islam. Islam arose as a destroyer of Christianity, the antithesis of Christian beliefs if you will.

One reason surely is that it did not make sense to start anywhere else, not Iran or North Korea or Syria or anywhere else, but we had to start somewhere.

I had the misfortune of reading an essay on Salon.com today about how anyone who thinks Iraq was a success is an idiot.

I must say I am infuriated that even among many conservatives there seems to be an accepted meme that our war in Iraq was not all that good.

It was an astounding success and well justified.

There were 23 justifications for the war including genocide. Naysayers in Congress said 10,000 American soldiers would die in the first six months in just the theater of Bagdad.

We trained thousands of troops and police, conducted three major democratic elections in 2005 created a constitution while the EU failed to do so.

We have killed tens of thousands of jihadist radicals. We have created the greatest nation of Al Qaeda haters the world has ever known.

We have handed al Qaeda their decisive Vietnam.

All was won on the backs of VOLUNTEERS who loved country more than partisan playgrounds at home. These are the greatest generation because they willingly chose to risk their lives to assault a vicious tyranny , defend a fragile democracy against islamofascists and stabilize the new nation while pretending patriots stabbed them in the back at home.

I am fed up with the half hearted supported of this war.

The author makes good arguments, and could make many more.

People have been misled by a liberal press and other liberal Democrats (Congress, CIA, etc.). This war makes as much sense as WWII and the Cold War and deserves as much support as was provided for WWII.

American communists and fellow travelers supported WWII because we were saving “Uncle Joe” Stalin. Had Hitler honored the nonaggression pact that he had with Stalin, American communists would have continued to oppose the war against Hitler. American communists, and those who they lead, opposed the cold war and oppose this war as well.
