Good grief.
"The results of the Iowa caucuses reveal that conservative Christians remain a powerful force in American politics. That had to be a great shock to those on the far left," Dobson said in a written release.
Dobson exposes his ignorance of, well, everything here. The left didn't get a big shock last night, as Huckabee's win surely confirmed every stereotype they have about Republicans.

Unfortunately, it also shows that the Christian right is still prone to being rolled.

As an evangelical who used to listen to Focus on the Family, I wish Dr. Dobson would just SHUT UP.
I would have to hold my nose to vote for Chucklebee.
I would enjoy spending an afternoon with him, but don't want him to be my president. He wears his Christianity on his sleeve in a way that makes me uncomfortable.

I used to like Dobson, but never paid attention to his politics. If he likes the Huckster, then he doesn’t understand the connection between limited government and religious freedom.

Almost all of the entry polled Iowa Republicans were characterized as “evangelicals”
How do we distinguish “the Christian Right” from “evangelicals”
in my mind Evangelicals are a fraction of the Christian Right. ie....polling bias

"Huckabee's victory "was evidence of an energized and highly motivated conservative community," Dobson said. "Not bad for a supposed bunch of demoralized, depressed, disillusioned and disengaged Reaganites." For the reading comprehension challenged.
Dobson is referring to the Evangelicals in Iowa as "reaganites", specifically he is referring to those values voters brought into the country club republican fold by President Reagan.
It is no knock on President Reagan, rather it is a compliment to the wide appeal that President Reagan had, so much so that the term Reagan democrat was born. Reagan democrats were and are values voters.

Mike Open Borders Huckabee is Christian left or Christian socialist.
I think you are correct.
The AP headline says Christian Right. Right? Left? Lets get this straight!
I dont think Dobson helps much when he says:
"The results of the Iowa caucuses reveal that conservative Christians remain a powerful force in American politics. That had to be a great shock to those on the far left.
I think the culprit here is stereotypical thinking. When the AP sees Christian, they just assume religious right. When Dobson considers that anyone objects to a Christian, he simply assumes they are on the left.
Left means powerful government, for example socialism or communism. American style socialism is of the tax, spend, regulate variety. A tax, spend, regulate Christian politician is no better in my eyes than a tax, spend, regulate atheist politician. The religious left is no better than the atheist left.
I am religious. But in this world, an alliance between the religious right and the atheist right makes sense. Lets unite in limiting the power of government. I dont see Mike Huckabee being of any help to Republicans, conservatives, or the right.
Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter seem to be the candidates that best line up with modern American conservatism. Romney is talking a good game today, but some doubt his sincerity.

Iowa is more liberal then Minnesota. And that says something about who they picked.

The Huckster will probably not get the nomination but his fall is going to hurt the Christian Right political movement big time. Following this guy blindly and not asking questions will set the movement back years if not generations.
For example, it has been reported that the #1 issue for Republican caucus voters in Iowa was illegals and yet they voted for a open border/total amnesty guy.
Sad days ahead if this trend continues.
