Focus on the Family founder James Dobson said Friday that GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's victory in the Iowa caucuses shows that Christian conservatives still have considerable influence.
Huckabee easily defeated second-place finisher Mitt Romney in Iowa Thursday thanks to a wave of support from evangelical Christians.
"The results of the Iowa caucuses reveal that conservative Christians remain a powerful force in American politics. That had to be a great shock to those on the far left," Dobson said in a written release.
Dobson criticized what he called media elites, saying they had written off religious conservatives.
Huckabee's victory "was evidence of an energized and highly motivated conservative community," Dobson said. "Not bad for a supposed bunch of demoralized, depressed, disillusioned and disengaged Reaganites."
Dobson said he has not endorsed Huckabee and said the former Arkansas governor may not win the GOP nomination.
In the next test, the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, Christian conservatives are expected to be less of a force than they were in Iowa.
Most evangelicals voted for someone other than Huckabee. I’ll be among those who vote for Thompson.
My in-laws are inclined to vote for Huckabee. I suspect they’ve only seen him as a Christian, and aren’t looking any deeper than that, to see his bad/uninformed politics. I’m trying to convince them, lovingly, to reconsider and to vote for someone else.
I believe Hunter quit the race yesterday.
Here’s one I would characterize as antichristian, where you equate folks who are standing firm for the deity of Christ as bigots.

You cannot find a single anti Christian post among them, including what I posted on this thread.... Again, you cannot find a single post of mine anywhere that meets your definition.
I will respond from home :)
just want to take a look at this link:

And tell me, isn't Huck ENTITLED at least, intitled to give us his version of these allegations against him?
Look I am not navive... I know many just can't stomack the guy!... sort of like i feel bout Mcc, flipflopper and JullieAnnie :)... But should he not have a chance to make his case?..
Though I am unhappy with his treatment of Thompson, I admire some of the man’s works. I mixed him with another who shall go nameless and reacted too quickly. Either way, his analysis is deeply flawed. All Governor Huckabee showed with his win is that if the Democrats could find someone to portray as a believable Christian, that would be all they would need to grab a large chunk of the Christian Right.
Unfortunately, you are correct!
How come Obama winning in IA doesn’t mean that the Pro-Partial Birth Abortion left is still strong according to the MSM?
On the contrary...the media elites have been promoting Huckabee. They can ditch him when they deem appropriate, much as they ditched Howard Dean.
***I agree. We need a candidate that doesn’t depend upon being propped up by the media. Whoever gets the GOP nomination is going to face a hostile left-stuck media. The trick is to get them wound up into such a frenzy that they can’t see straight, and they start pulling blind rage stunts like Dan Rather did. That’s how Bill Sali won in Idaho, also how Prop 187 won in California, even how Reagan won. Right up to voting day, the media was claiming all of them were far behind in the polls. But the average voter was tired of being called a bigot, and it backfired. In order for this strategy to win, we need a rock-ribbed conservative who doesn’t waver, someone like Hunter.
Iowa Shows Christian Right is Still Wrong. . .
I said this before everyone should realize if the republicans lose this election the dems will pardon millions of illegals, thus forming a new large voting block along with weakening the conservative movement to meaningless.
***You neglect the fact that it was the REPUBLICAN president who pushed the latest amnesty plan.
So before you mock Rudy people should think twice.A Thompson/Rudy ticket looks good to me.
***Rudy? Mr. TootyfruityAmnesty? You’re joking, right? On immigration, Hunters criticism of Thompson over this issue is well aimed. We need someone in the white house who isnt a johnny-come-lately on this issue.

no one is bashing Conservative Christians.
Yep - strong and dumb.
bumping that!
... Duncan Hunter is a RINO???????
I should tell you that ever since the war on terror, I am total believer in a National ID card.
***Here’s where we part company. That brings in the system of the beast, as foretold in the bible in Rev Chapt13:
16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
If the backstabbing, history-rewriting Fred Thompson kool-aid drinkers didn't automatically scream "RINO" at any candidate not named "Fred Thompson", the solidly pro-life, pro-gun, pro-family, pro-WOT longtime freeper Governor would win this site easily.
I believe it was a discussion between you, me, and Petronski where Petronski said Thompson was not an evangelical.
