Really?
Enlighten me.
~”And if the race is a Romney v McCain v Huckabee race, Romney is BY FAR the most acceptable qualified and credible candidate.”~
Agreed, without qualification. But if he doesn’t win NH, he won’t win MI - Huckabee’s almost tied with him there right now, and MI won’t get the buzz of NH if Romney does take it, anyway. Without NH and MI, Romney will fall flat on his face in SC, and Giuliani will take NV.
Let’s face it. He -needed- IA. He -could- recover if he wins NH, but there’s not a chance he’ll take the nomination if he loses there.
~”...though I could say that Thompson didnt meet expectations.”~
The funny thing is, Thomson actually did meet expectations in IA. Just not yours.
Your language suggests you need to work on your first position. The One you say you follow would never say the things you said. Perhaps you are the one who has been brainwashed??!!
I have mentiiioned this on another thread, but in an interview with Charlie Rose, Fred Thompson enunciated his conservative principles. Rose said Fred had not mentioned abortion or gay marriage. Fred informed him those were issues which were decided by guiding principles. He said if you adherred to conservative principles, you had to decide the abortion issue on theprolife side.
vaudine
Who do you see getting the nomination if not Romney? And don’t say Fred or Duncan. I’ve had enough nonsense today.
Sounds same ol, same ol, to me.
If Romney doesn’t win NH, then it’s down to -shudder- McCain or Huckabee. Both candidates I’ve promised myself I would never vote for.
Wrong.
He’s got the resources to keep going.
The others have to pick and choose their states.
Well, I know now they don’t give a damn about a strong foreign policy, or a wartime President being elected.
The irony is that, by insisting on the "100% or Nothing" course in regards to the pro-life issue, they will be putting an ultra-liberal in the White House that will keep Roe v. Wade as the supreme law of the land in all 50 states for decades to come.
In America's current political reality, the pro-life side and the pro-abortion side both have ZERO chance of getting an Abortion Amendment, pro or con, enshrined into the Constitution.
The only realistic change is having a Supreme Court that believes in original intent and not penumbras overturn Roe v. Wade so that abortion may return as a State's issue as the Tenth Amendment intended issues not mentioned in the Constitution to be.
Abortion could easily be outlawed in Iowa if Roe v. Wade were overturned by such a Supreme Court but, by insisting on the impossible, they are ensuring that abortion will remain legal in Iowa for decades to come as Ruth Ginsburg clones fill the next Supreme Court vacancies.
Forbes proved that money by itself won’t win elections.
I’m a major opponent of fanboyism. I am a Romney supporter, but I don’t like seeing it for him, either.
Does Romney have a shot? Sure. But it’s a triple bank shot. I’m still rooting, but it does no good to merely cheerlead.
So has anyone called him on any false statements he's made?
Hmmmmmm?
Absolutely correct. Good analysis.
Pity that the Iowans don’t seem to see it that way.
If Huckabee is nominated, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.
Yes. Extensively, at least around here.
Nobody with any political experience can pass the litmus test. Just one of the reasons why religion and politics don’t mix.
I don’t recal anyone actually pointing out any false statements he made.
Insensitive? Maybe.
False? Let’s see.
Somebody has to win.
Only Mitt and Rudy have the resources for Super Tuesday.
Huck might still be in if can get out the evangelicals like in Iowa.
Do you think Fred or Duncan will be around on Feb. 5th? I don’t.
The big question is McCain: Will the GOP remember his various stabs in the back and pay him back? Or will the GOP bend over and say “thank you, John McCain”?
The “Jesus and Satan” comment was deliberately misleading.
Where I come from, a half-truth is still a lie.
Still, it wasn’t the deciding factor in this race.
