Rush was also right about abortion not being the defining issue. Unless you adher to the conservative principles as a whole you are not going to get anything but opposition and accomodation about abortion.

I have mentiiioned this on another thread, but in an interview with Charlie Rose, Fred Thompson enunciated his conservative principles. Rose said Fred had not mentioned abortion or gay marriage. Fred informed him those were issues which were decided by guiding principles. He said if you adherred to conservative principles, you had to decide the abortion issue on theprolife side.

BINGO!!! Too many view conservatism as a laundry list of stances on various issues, rather than adherence to a set of principles.
