That’s what I do know about Thompson... he doesn’t even know enough to be able to be a Christian, in order to choose that for himself...

WHO GIVES A RAT'S @$$???

I am so completely, utterly SICK TO DEATH of religion, "christian issues" and abortion being the be-all, end-all issues that have completely splintered this party. I want my elected officials to have their minds on politics, how they are spending OUR money, what they are doing to protect OUR country, I don't care where or if they go to church every Sunday, I want quality on the job I elected them to do Monday through Friday. I do not believe for one second that honest, conservative, GOOD people have to be any sort of a christian. I know people who go to church every week, and are completely awful people the rest of the week, yet they are "good". Bull.

I firmly believe that evangelicals and "christian conservatives" will be (if not already) the death of this party. The founding fathers didn't want government involved in their religious choices. I don't want religion involved in my political choices.

You said — “I firmly believe that evangelicals and “christian conservatives” will be (if not already) the death of this party. The founding fathers didn’t want government involved in their religious choices. I don’t want religion involved in my political choices.”

Then be prepared to die, then, I guess. The Evangelicals are not going to change their worldview, which is based upon Christianity, the main component that forms the “basis” for their lives...

Where should we have the funeral... LOL...

Yours is the FR post of the year!

You said it all. I've also had it RIGHT UP TO HERE with the religious issues, the sect issues, the abortion issues, the holier-than-thou issuers.....they are wrecking our party.......and are a staggering cross to bear.

HAve you yourself chosen Jesuz as your personal lord and savior?

I mean you need to testify on your application for membership in the Republican Party, dont you? ( sarc.)

All kidding aside, I agree with you 100%.

I think that both Romney and Huckabee made a vast mistake by turning to their religious carpet bagging mode to win in Iowa. It will haunt them into oblivion, as it should. Every megalomanic born again conservative no thinks we are tantamount to the second coming, and mixing religious doctrine with the fundamental issues which need to be canvassed by this campaign, such as the fundamental issues continually referenced by Duncan Hunter.

I have had enough of this "glory hallelujah" bull crap, just as you have.

Like you > I coould care less what religion our candidates have, I am more concerned with their record and strengths on issues that now face the nation. I don't think that the good lord is going to come riding in on a team of white horses to save our nation. We must assure that security througth logic, scrutiny and debate.

Praying is good for the soul, but you can pray forever and still not invoke the policies necessary for the security of the nation or for the evolution among us , of a more perfect union, which is the true goal of our Republic, rather than the religion based division and disunity of our citizenry inherant in this drivil we have seen from Huckabee and Romney.

Hey, I hate abortion too! Lets end it once and for all so that it is never an issue again in another election. OK?

I sooooo agree with your post.

I believe he Jesus Freaks will be the death of the conservative party. I don’t give a rat’s ass what religion a politician is, as long as he has a long and proven track record on conservative practices.

And I too am familiar with the Christians you mention. They act like total dickheads six days a week, then think that a 40 minute sermon and $5 in the collection plate will bring them salvation. And I am familiar with the ‘doesn’t matter what we are talking about, I will find a way to ram scripture down your throat’ Christian. Quite frankly, as a Christian myself, it scares the crap out of me and angers me at the same time. Drinking that Jesus juice makes some lose all common sense and perspective.

I am of the belief that true Christians do not need to jump on a pulpit and witness every waking moment! They should be leading by example and making the rest want what they got and follow out of desire of God’s riches, not out of a bully pulpit or screaming from the rafters.

I would LOVE to have a true Christian in the White House. I do not wish for one badly enough to sacrifice the downfall of my country to get it, though.

Give me a true Constitutionalist over a bleeding heart religious freak any day. In the end, I would rather stand before God as an honest heart for the best of my country than put my self wants above all else.
