Bravo....Go Fred Go
Honestly.... I just think all the Republican candidates are not that impressive. Granted whoever it ends up getting the nomination I will vote for in November.
Excellent post!

The man has spent 17 of the last 17 days in Iowa freezing his but off for this job!
Thank you, Jim Robinson, for the nail that could very well save the Kindgom.
And you're ok with either of those bastions of conservatism apparently?
Fred may not be the best campaigner around. Then again, we're not electing the best campaigner, the best debater, the best looking, the holiest, the slickest or the smoothest candidate running.
At Free Republic we want the most viable and the best conservative candidate available to win the GOP nomination. That isn't Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee, or McCain.
Without question, that candidate is Fred Thompson.
DITTO!
"He also recognizes that we are in a war between civilizations and that our very survival as a free and secure nation among free and secure nations hinges on defeating Islamic extremism and ending the scourge of International terrorism. The war must be fought to the finish, and fought to the total annihilation of organized terrorism. And, no, it is NOT the same as fighting crime. War is hell!"
The understanding of this fact and having the leadership capability to get it done, are paramount. Fred has both.
correction: kindgom = kingdom. Dislexic keyboard.
No. I'm just not a Giuliani hater like you. I hardly think he would be the best candidate the Republicans could field. Let's just say I prefer Giuliani to McCaine.
But this thread is about Thompson. I agree with Jim that he is the best man for the Republicans, and for the reasons that Jim stated.
ML/NJ
Let’s start a rule on FR -
if your typo is understandable, don’t bother with another post to correct it - we understand what you meant.
See, that's the reason why Fred is not doing so good. His persona and approach gives the appearance of too 'laid back' ("no passion").
Also more importantly, he never established himself as "fighter" in deeds (more in 'words') exhibited by his track-record and 'claim-to-fame' in the Senate which concerned the Senate Campaign Finance Investigation hearings (the Clintoon CHICOM funny money, John Huang, etc.. of the '96 election) in which he totally capitulated to the RATs by bending to their demands all over the place and eventually watered-downed the investigation where nothing got accomplished.
I am not, but I think that is what we have. My prediction is that Mitt will be the next President.
And not just a union member like Fred, but a union official. Two wives too, though RR married actress', Fred's stuck with a lawyer. What if all these things aren't negatives?
Lost track of the original poster, but I'd love to know which candidate running isn't a politician.
When Fred became a candidate I sent him money and continue to do so. As soon as bumper stickers were available my cars advertised them. Fred is the best man for the job. Period.
I’m perfectly willing to go down with this ship rather than choose the front runner just because he is a front runner.
And I won't let the MSM or some poll tell me who I think should be the next President of the United States.
I like Fred because he pushes back at the idiot press.
