Fred Thompson may drop out (For any latecomers, it's baloney)

To which the conservative replies, "Um...you mean we can't vote for Pepsi? Only Diet Pepsi? Uh...ok." And they go back to their job. Or their church. Or their home. And think not much more about it. And a lot of them will get out and vote for whatever "Republican" candidate is nominated. And 1% or .75% won't. And that's all that's needed.

I don’t buy it that Fred said he will drop out soon, I don’t buy it at all. He is not going to drop out and I don’t approve of those who would resort to the kind of tactics of telling lies about another candidate.

Mitt only changed his opinion when he started running for President. HE is using the issue as a political football.

I think it would take several election cycles to fall apart, particularly with a candidate like Hillary as the opposition.

That’s better, at least you are trying to tell the truth, it wasn’t right before the election, I believe it was a few years before. But at least you are demonstrating that you have something that resembles a conscience, which is more then I can say for some others.

There is no record of a pro-life comment by Romney prior to his interest in this presidential election campaign.

In other words, his “conversion” was one of political expediency.

In the spring of 2002 Romney completed a Planned Parenthood questionnaire. Signed by Romney and dated April 9, 2002, it contained these responses:

Do you support the substance of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade? YES

Do you support state funding of abortion services through Medicaid for low-income women? YES

In 1998 the FDA approved the first packaging of emergency contraception, also known as the “morning after pill.” Emergency contraception is a high dose combination of oral contraceptives that if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, can safely prevent a pregnancy from occurring. Do you support efforts to increase access to emergency contraception? YES

Romney also completed the questionnaire of the National Abortion Rights Action League, or NARAL (now called NARAL Pro-Choice America), with this statement:

“I respect and will protect a woman’s right to choose. This choice is a deeply personal one. Women should be free to choose based on their own beliefs, not mine and not the government’s. The truth is no candidate in the governor’s race in either party would deny women abortion rights. So let’s end an argument that does not exist and stop these cynical and divisive attacks that are made only for political gain.” - Mitt Romney

Post a hit-piece from the always-available-for-comment "anonymous sources close to the campaign". Coordinate with other Fred-bashing hacks discreetly beforehand so you can all come in and flood the thread with feigned hand-wringing commiseration with each other over the thousandth fabricated "impending demise of the Thompson campaign" story since Christmas.

When FredHeads come in and debunk whatever miserable lie is being spread, change the subject to Fred's looks, or his wife's looks, or whether or not she has "worked the pole", or blah-blah-f'in-blah.

I have a right to my opinion just as you do.

I think the base is horribly fractured. Some people are more concerned with winning, which is understandable. This is politics, after all. Not art class. But I think the tendency when one becomes obsessed with winning, calculations are made based upon a cynicism which is not always warranted. And, principles are sacrificed on the altar of expediency.

I don't care for that sort of "winning." And I haven't seen many examples of that behavior win, anyway. Granted, I am not a political genius. And I would gladly lose in a landslide than change my principles based upon a focus group.

But, I think the speed with which we rush to a "moderate" candidate shows a lack of confidence in our principles. And those principles WORK! And they're RIGHT. Objectively so. Let's not abandon them simply because of a poll or because we "need the White House." If America wants a Democrat president, or at least a president with Democrat principles, why should we try to trick them into voting for a "Republican" Democrat? Let's grow a pair and stick with our principles. Most Americans believe in them, if we can simply articulate them in a way that they understand.
