The New Rules of Marriage

Of course, there is much to disdain about The New Rules of Marriage, but what offended me most was its pervasive celebration of inequality amongst the sexes. Women want more out of relationships today so…men must give it to them. Why is that the case? In every equitable transaction, the side who asks for more must offer more in exchange. This leads us to ask, what do modern women offer men that is superior to what their predecessors proffered in the past?......

If Oprah says so, or women agree among themselves, then they factually are superior.

the new rule of marriage amongst the educated classes here in Nashville is that the men are soft as butter and the women have prominant chins.

does not bode well for our culture’s future in a perilous world.

men emasculated with nary a scapel

This is simple. Why buy the cow when the milk is free? More rules and regulations keep more men away from marriage.

I see it everyday and it makes me sick. Men are controlled by their wives. They are terrified of their wives. They are portrayed as bumbling idiots and their wives must do everything for them like they are ten year old boys.

It contained a glowing recommendation from the sinister bell hooks and Ballantine’s promise that the work delivered “a long overdue message that women need to hear: You aren’t crazy–you’re right!”

An endorsement by bell hooks of a marriage book is the best reason NOT to buy it lol!

Women have complained throughout history since men left the cave door open going out to hunt. Modern women have failed in taking care of their families - hence divorce, the huge government, taxes, alternative fathers. Have to blame it on something.

What do real women make for dinner? Reservations.

As represented in almost every commercial and sitcom on TV. Men are stupid and should be pitied at best.

I’m not complaining about marriage, just have to make sure its to the right person.

Far too many folks think “love conquers all”... this of course sets them up for failure.

Writing is often on the wall for divorce before a couple even says “I do”, but neither are willing to make honest assessments of themselves, let alone the person they “love” to recognize it.

Marriage Rule #1: Show your wife you appreciate her by surprising her with a thoughtful gift.

For instance, I just surprised Mrs. Chandler with a new steam iron. It’s a beautiful digital model. The old one was getting rusty and I was worried it might damage my underwear when she irons them.

One question to ask about the author of a book about marriage, as well as the reviewer of a book on marriage and the endorser(s) of a book in marriage, is, “How long has this person been happily married to the same spouse?”

For example, why would anyone listen to Oprah Winfrey’s opinion on marriage?

I don’t hold a grudge or blame any of the women I know who have squashed the guys I know into their own 9yearold sons.

I blame the guys for letting it happen.

I called a friend the other day and asked if he was free for poker Saturday night. He asked his wife in the background if it was OK! 39 year old GROWN ASS MAN!!

I never got his answer, I just hung up and wanted to vomit.

you noticed that too huh? Commercials and sitcoms are the worse.

Never happen in my house. My Pops would spin in his grave if it did.
