Happy New Year Free Republic - March for Justice Pics
Self ^ | 12/31/07 | Grrrrr

Posted on 12/31/2007 8:13:10 PM PST by GRRRRR

I saw a thread earlier today that spoke of their anniversary at FR. It reminded me of our first big Freep.

Back in October 1998, JimRob said he was going to Washington and shake his old withered finger at Bill Clinton at the White House fence. In a matter of a few days, we had hundreds of Freepers signing up to join him.

I was there and took pictures. Here is a preview...

You can see the rest at the link above...

We will need to gather together again, this year, to assure that Hillary and her ilk do not gain the White House. Who ever is our nominee, we MUST UNITE with him so that NO CLINTON EVER uses the Oval Office for ANY purpose.

Happy New Year, In Days of Auld Lang Syne

AULD LANG SYNE

Words adapated from a traditional song by Rabbie Burns (1759-96)

Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind? Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And auld lang syne?

CHORUS: For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld lang syne, We'll tak a cup of kindness yet, For auld lang syne!

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp, And surely I'll be mine, And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet, For auld lang syne!

We twa hae run about the braes, And pou'd the gowans fine, But we've wander'd monie a weary fit, Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn Frae morning sun till dine, But seas between us braid hae roar'd Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand my trusty fiere, And gie's a hand o thine, And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught, For auld lang syne

Meanings

auld lang syne - times gone by be - pay for braes - hills braid - broad burn - stream dine - dinner time fiere - friend fit - foot gowans - daisies guid-willie waught - goodwill drink monie - many morning sun - noon paidl't - paddled pint-stowp - pint tankard pou'd - pulled twa - two

OMG, this brings a tear to my eye! I was there too!

I’ve told this story 100 times but tonight it bears repeating...

Five of us from Houston deplaned and headed for baggage claim when we spotted James ‘Serpent Head’ Carville exiting the claim area. Someone called out to him, “HEY JAMES!” He turned his head toward us and smiled. Just then one of us yelled, “WE’RE HERE FOR THE MARCH FOR JUSTICE!!”

His expression changed from a smile to a frown. Then he just shook his head NO. And he blew through the exit door. We all joined in gales of laughter that we’d bested the old phart!

Later on we realized that he KNEW EXACTLY what the MFJ was and who FReepers are....Card carrying members of the VRWC!

THAT was such a joy....

Hey, WvNan. Yes we did. I have a wonderful picture of us on the way there when we stopped at a Rest stop!

I miss her so much also - think about her often - but know she is having a great time in heaven!

Good to hear from you also. Have a blessed New Year!

Oh I reread what I posted. The FR friend from Florida picked Maggie up in SC and came up to get me in NC and we headed to DC from here.

What an event that was! It was LadyX who wanted to be right down front and center so we plopped down there and had the best seats in the house!

NO CLINTON EVER uses the Oval Office for ANY purpose

The only reason the Clinton's should be allowed back in the White House is to return the stuff they swiped the last time they were there.

Nah, they’ve probably already sold it at a Garage sale in Chappaqua and then claimed the proceeds as contributions to the Salvation Army, along with some used pant suits...ick!

Taking a break from the Missouri/Arkansas game to do some shopping at my favorite internet ammo company, for the revolution later this year, and I must share this with you all.
During the 1st quarter li’l Willie Clinton comes on, apparently paid by the SEC to urge upon all of us a topic dear to his heart—and you aren’t going to believe it . . . I just couldn’t stop laughing . . .

Wait for it:

)))

)))

`Character’!!!

For the 2nd half I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised if Dan Rather doesn’t lecture us in a PSA on the topoi: `Courage’.

Happy New Year!

Thanks for this terrific thread. It was the first Internet based political rally, and it was a radical idea at the time.

The old media kept up the refrain that Bilbo’s misdeeds were merely personal business, but his perjury and suborning of witnesses were felonies, and at least some citizens weren’t going to let it gloss over that the President of the United states was a lawbreaker who needed to brought to Justice.

With the Clinton Justice Dept., FBI, and with the well poisoned by Hillary’s remarks about the “Vast Right Wing Conspirancy”, it was no small feat that in that atmosphere over 4,000 good people went to DC on their own dime to shame the House leadership into action. With speakers like Alan Keyes,Rev. Jesse Peterson, ReJoyce, Ann Coulter, Congressman Bob Barr and others—it was an unforgettable event.

I was one of the 4,000. And two months later, the Bent One was impeached by the House in December,1998, in spite of a useless wag-the-dog missile attack on Iraq for diversionary purposes.

We will definitely need a March for Justice II on October 31, 2008( as conservatismIScompassion has suggested previously on another thread) and as GRRRRR has advocated, , the tenth anniversary of the March for Justice I ,if Her Heinous gets the Demon nod as their candidate. It would come just days before the election.

It cannot be stressed often enough:

1. No Clinton should ever, EVER be allowed into the White House again.

2. One President from Hope, Arkansas was one too many.

Eagles up in 2008.

We had 2500 at the MFJ, then 600 at the JDR and then maybe 300 at the HMD. Conservatives will support and attend an out of town FReep if the situation is perceived as critical and not conducted too frequently (one per year?).

The best attendance was at the nationwide FReeps organized by the Free Republic Network during the election debacle in ‘00 and then again the “Rally for America” in ‘03. We had 200-250 rallies and estimated total attendance at 40k to 100k.

Holding rallies for the sake of holding rallies, particularly one venue events, has never been a productive excercize and unfortunately burns too many people out. However, strategically targeted and spread over numerous but smaller locations where people don’t have to travel far has proven to be a success. Plus, local rallies get much better and more positive media coverage. National rallies are ignored or trashed by the MSM.

People/conservatives have limited time, energy and money. Plan wisely.

I absolutely agree. OTOH that does not mean planning nothing. I'm just looking ahead and projecting what we might wish in October that we had planned now. Election Day will be Nov 4, and I associate the MFJ with Halloween, which will be on Friday - which also coincides with the weekly DC Chapter Freeps at Walter Reed. It's possible that the best use of that limited time, energy, and money would be to plan for hotel accommodations on Friday nite after the WR Freep, followed by a morning rally Saturday at the Washington Monument. Dispersing about 1PM so people have plenty of time to get home before retiring Saturday night.

Or else having the Inaugural Ball on faith Saturday night, as well . . .

Perhaps, a decade after the MFJ, we could set up a big HDTV at the site of the Freep, and use it to display videos a la youtube, enabling a large virtual presence at the FReep by FReepers nationwide who can't be in DC that day but who can participate the FR way. Not only videos but a live thread scrolling so that people could check in via text - and with video going back up to the server and out to the distributed FReepers. I have no special expertise, just thinking out loud.

I think at a minimum we should have a maximum-effort FReep at Walter Reed . . .

I like your ideas. I wasn't a FReeper in '98, so didn't know anything about it. Also, I had small kids - probably couldn't have attended anyway. :(

I would love to participate this time. Please keep us informed!

One consideration is that people might prefer not to have their houses empty on Halloween night. Maybe the previous week would be better?

It was one of the best weekends in my life.

Friday evening we took over the hotel lobby and met so many great folks..... including Mat Drudge

Saturday we gathered under the wonderfully blue sky on the mall and for the first time......the cries of Impeach, Impeach, Impeach! were heard.

After cleaning every scrap and butt from the grounds we gathered in the AIA building for Pizza and conversation. Later, we heard many great speakers including Jonah Goldberg and Patrica Knowlton. He invited all to a guided tour of Fort Marcy Park

On Sunday Morning on the way home, we took the guided tour with several other Freepers and stood on the berm where Vince’s body was found. It was at the Edge of a large private wood and 100 yards from an overgrown drive. That was how the body got to Fort Marcy Park.

As we moved from the parking lot through Fort Marcy Park, we contoured sticky notes on cannons. The notes described the adventures of FReepers who came to the park late the night before. The March For Justice is still hanging over my hobby desk......

I remember meeting you, also! IN that hotel lobby. Along with Matt Drudge, and so many more. What a weekend it was! My trio had to leave that day so we were not there for the events later Saturday or the tour of Ft. Marcy Park.....something that someone should record and patent and make it a driving tour sold by the DC Tourist bureau.....

Yes the rallies around the 2000 election were effective. We held one every weekend here from the time Soreloserman started his obscene election challenge to George W. Bush’s clear victory, to the day he finally yielded to reality.

I think the thing that surprised the Dems were that Americans were finally willing to go into the streets to show their total rejection of the Demonrat hijacking of an election (attempt). But we got our inspiration from President Elect George W Bush who would NOT cave in and accept the idiotic Democratic party attempt to subvert our election procedure!!!!

Lesser men would have caved and just let the Loserman have it. That’s what had happened for 8 years of Clintonian rule....people just caved in, rolled over, or were removed from being obstacles. Finally, W stopped that steamroller and we just assisted by echoing his battle cry in the streets!

So all of these rallies have been good ones. The MFJ and the election rallies....there have been other good ones.

Remember the leftists ALWAYS are shown with their minions out in the streets....and that will happen in the coming year also.

It is the psychological impact of seeing THEM always being seen and heard and our side not.

Free Republic changed that. Thank you JimRob.
