It's time to step up, Fred. Conservatives need a leader about whom we have no major reservations. The only one looming out there about you is your failure, so far, to persuade voters you want the job.
All of the GOP candidates are vastly superior to all of the Democrat candidates, but here's the way I see the field now.
Rudy is a strong leader and very good on national security and the war. But he is a social-issues liberal, whose pledge to appoint originalist judges is encouraging -- but not completely convincing.
John McCain is a war hero and a patriot. He has been strong on Iraq but disappointing on Guantanamo, tough interrogation techniques and other war-related issues. He is not a supply-sider and is abysmally bad -- obviously -- on campaign finance reform and thus free speech. Also profoundly troubling is his history of sycophancy toward the liberal media elite and, in turn, their sporadic love affair with him.
Mike Huckabee, I believe, is a strong and sincere Christian. That means a lot to me. It doesn't bother me that he wears it on his sleeve -- assuming he's not being exploitive of his religion, and there, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Every candidate's worldview guides his beliefs and agenda, and it would be far worse for Huckabee to deny the strong influence of his worldview in forming his identity and contributing to his ideology. It's one thing to be upset with Huckabee if you believe he has used his Christian credentials subtly to highlight and demean Mitt Romney's Mormonism, but I don't believe that's what he's done. Christians shouldn't be accused of attacking other faiths when they are simply promoting their own.

I am being to think which such positive feedback I am not crazy, no matter what my wife says :-)....
What Rush must realize their will be no torch to carry if a RINO or the Dems get in charge, it will be gone.
Maybe he will share it with his brother.
It is their "Spitfire" moment, as Churchill said, if they are willing to accept....
But that is silly, because look how nicely his brother has done it. He comments quite favorably about all the front runners. Rush can endorse Thompson in such a way that his endorsement is "for today, for the Iowa caucus" and still not be a complete Fred-Head.
Rush is in a sticky situation. His longtime tradition of wanting the candidate himself to get OUT THERE and make his way to the nomination all by himself is noble and modest. Rush knows that many people would vote for Mickey Mouse if he endorsed him (though after Minnie wrote that tell-all book, I think Mickey's out). And for goodness sakes, we are talking about the Leader of the Free World here -- if he can't stomp out primary competitors, how will he stomp out terrorists and communists?
However, the other side of Rush's noble self-restriction is that Rush and some other hosts ARE the only media alternative to the Drive-Bys. If Rush stays quiet because of the principle enumerated in the previous paragraph, he is allowing the mainstream media to, with their talking points of "Fred is Dead," choose the Republican candidate for us because our alternative media has standards too high to allow itself into the fight. And if it's boxing metaphors we are going with, one properly delivered monologue from Rush about all the candidates, with strong emphasis on Fred, could be the KO we need to come in a strong second in Iowa and gain that Magic Mo.
Please think about it, Maha.
One would have concerns about Hunter's electability. He is not a very good debater.
IOWA...Please make the right choice on Thursday. If you are for FRED...please go to the caucus in your area. It is not too late for FRED to break through and carry forward to the other states. The prestigious endorsements FRED has received were because they believed in him and were not afraid to step up!
FRED THOMPSON - NATIONAL SECURITY EXPERT (Ill protect the American people and American values, whatever it takes to stop the Islamic-Fascists including water-boarding) - 2ND AMENDMENT ADVOCATE (’arming the People to disarm criminals and making available to the general populace superior weaponry to deal with domestic terrorists where ever and whenever they may be found) INCREASE THE MILITARYS STRENGTH AND SIZE (giving those brave men and women a Commander in Chief to be proud of) - SECURE AND SEAL THE BORDERS (dont give sanctuary anywhere to illegals, dont employ illegals, dont rent to illegals, dont extend credit to illegals, dont give illegals rights they dont deserve, report all crimes committed by illegals and deport those illegals who have already committed crimes against America) - LAW AND ORDER (enforcement first and foremost with laws currently on the books) DENY FEDERAL DOLLARS TO SANCTUARY CITIES (enough is enough) CONSERVATIVE JUSTICES FOR SUPREMES (those who will interpret the law, not create rights that do not exist) PRO-LIFE ADVOCATE (nominate superior Constitutional Justices to overturn Roe vs Wade) - SOCIAL SECURITY REFORMER (reform a broken program that cant sustain itself and will bankrupt future generations, with the added benefit of private savings accounts) - DEFEAT ANY DEMOCRAT AND RINO (any fool DemocRATS put up) TAX SIMPLIFICATION (variety of choice for the tax payer) - WONT PUT UP WITH CRAP FROM THE MSM (including stupid questions by moderators and pundits) - WE THE PEOPLE CANDIDATE (We the People asked him to run and he stepped up) - PING!
I think what we want is for Thompson to beat Huckster and let some of the next races tease it out with Mitt and Fred.
Listen, we here in CA were quite fooled by Ahnold, some of us. I too lived in Socialist Europe like he did, which is where I learned that socialism sucks, and I believed him. I ignored the other side of his 4-poster-bed and got him elected, where he has now forgotten every tiny bit of his conservatism and the American Drean he lives, etc. I am not sure I could get my hands to stop shaking to vote for Romney.
Exactly. That is not "losing," that is choosing the best candidate and hoping America can keep up with the Doctor of Democracy.
Oh, you don't need to... They are on it. Go look in the mirror: you're SHOW PREP! Comb that hair.
I don’t think you will have to...
Your last paragraph is exactly why he needs to get in the fight. The lame-streamers are trying to give us a RINO. Rush is the only one that can carry the day. Listen to Medved or even Bill Bennett. They are still playing I like all the RINO's game. Come on you talk show host, you are supposed to be the voice of Reagan Conservatism?
LOL thanks! We are show prep!
I don’t think they were purged. Or at least what they said at the time was that they were leaving in disgust.
I was open to Rudy myself at the start of the campaign. I said that if he strongly repudiated some of his previous positions, on abortion and gay rights, I might be willing to support him, because he tends to be honest.
Well, as it turned out, he didn’t repudiate anything. So he’s more honest than some of the others, but about what?
I saw the way he turned around New York. I’m willing to put up with some unpleasant personality traits if someone can get the job done. But not if the job includes unlimited abortion and perversion. So, he lost me. But no bad feelings toward my old friends here who supported him.
It is my belief that some of our best Americans are behind mikes with real bully pulpits. And commentary and humor is engaging and fairly easy (for the experienced broadcast specialist). But there are times when a voice becomes more significant than entertainment, and this may be one of those times.
The support for Thompson is there I believe — if only we could get the word out he would be gaining traction that was visible in the media. IMHO, the liberal media WANTS Huckabee or Romney to win the nomination because it’ll be easier for them to render them unimportant, and cause the Republicans to lose the election... Thompson would beat Hillary and the left-leaning media knows that. I think that is the reason they (Huck and Mitt) are the “media darlings” right now... People like to back “winners” — it’s just human nature. The media have created this “support” for Mitt and Huck in their coverage of their campaigns while virtually ignoring Thompson (in comparison). There’s a game being played here and I hope we can turn the tide... I sure hope there are some surprises in Iowa and the next few states.
Thanks for posting the rest of the article. :) I love the conclusion and wholeheartedly agree.
Allegations of unfair treatment of Giuliani supporters In 2007, moderators removed the posting privileges of many members who supported the presidential campaign of current Republican front-runner Rudy Giuliani. The New York Observer reported: Over the past few weeks, chaos has reigned in the "Freeper" community as members sympathetic to the former mayor's candidacy claim to have suffered banishment from the site. They were victimized, they say, by a wave of purges designed to weed out any remaining support for the Giuliani campaign... [72]
David Limbaugh seems to agree with me ;o)
**So, Fred, please, as distasteful as it may be to you, its time to step up and prove you want it. Time is short.**
I really think Fred is going to sneak into the top three in Iowa and New Hampshire!
I still to this day can't believe Republicans threw themselves off that cliff. And mark my words, John McCain (who I believe WILL get the nomination) is Babbling Bob Dole II, right down to the cranky-old-man demeanor and the "you can't criticize me because I'm a war hero" bilge.
With "conservatives" like these.......
Hank
