NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS YOU CAN KEEP
Are you sick of making the same resolutions year after year that you never keep?
Why not promise to do something you can actually accomplish? Here are some resolutions that you can use as a starting point:
1. Gain weight. At least 30 pounds. 2. Stop exercising. Waste of time. 3. Read less. Makes you think. 4. Watch more TV. I've been missing some good stuff. 5. Procrastinate more. Starting tomorrow. 6. Not date any of the Baywatch cast. 7. Spend more time at work, surfing with the T1. 8. Take a vacation to someplace important: like, the back of the livingroom sofa. 9. Not jump off a cliff just because everyone else did. 10. Stop bringing lunch from home: I should eat out more. 11. Not have eight children at once. 12. Get in a whole NEW rut! 13. Start being superstitious. 14. Personal goal: bring back disco. 15. Not wrestle with Mike Tyson. 16. Not bet against the New England Patriots. 17. Buy an '83 Eldorado and invest in a really loud stereo system. 18. Get the windows tinted. Buy some fur for the dash. 19. Speak in a monotone voice and only use monosyllabicwords. 20. Only wear jeans that are 2 sizes too small and use a chain or rope for a belt. 21. Spend my summer vacation in Cyberspace. 22. Not eat cloned meat. 23. Create loose ends. 24. Get more toys. 25. Get further in debt. 26. Not believe politicians. 27. Break at least one traffic law. 28. Not drive a motorized vehicle across thin ice. 29. Avoid transmission of inter-species diseases. 30. Avoid airplanes that spontaneously drop 1000 feet. 31. Stay off the MIR space station. 32. Not worry that a new strain of bug will cause the end of the world. 33. Get wired with high-speed net connections at home. 34. Not swim with Pirahnas or sharks. 35. Associate with even worse business clients. 36. Spread out priorities beyond my ability to keep track of them. 37. Wait around for opportunity. 38. Focus on the faults of others. 39. Mope about my faults. 40. Never make New Year's resolutions again.

Good morning to everyone at the Canteen.
Well, our I'net is back to full capabilities again. The router was on and off line for several days.

Thank you for your blessings Kathy.
Terrence has now gone to San Diego and is being a support there as he finishes out his 20 years.
He is now settled into an apt and life on the West Coast, and is looking forward to his retirement from the Navy!!!
He doesn’t care for it out there too much though......he loves the South! ;-) It’s more Conservative, he says!
Maybe he won’t go back out to sea...but who knows? ;-)
He is sure appreciative of the encouragement and support from all Americans, especially those here in the Canteen!
BTW...Happy New year to you and all!!!!! ;-)

Well, it's not a resolution, although my resolution started before Halloween (Quiting smoking, going well so far), but it's the annual poem from Just another Joe.
For those of you who have seen it, forgive me for posting it again.
For those of you who haven't seen it, enjoy.
Amateur Night
The streets were quiet this day
As along to work I made my way
The revelers were all sleeping, getting their rest
For tonight they would party
party their best
The party would start early and go until late
Tomorrow would be different, it had to be fate
The children would all get a sip of the wine
The drinks would flow and BOY theyd taste fine
The streets were quiet this morn as I went
It seemed like a boiler whose steam wouldnt vent
If anyone thinks that by now theyd awaken
The thing to do that is the smell of bacon
But their wives were all snuggled beside them in bed
While visions of the party danced round in their head
No bacon for you their wifeys would say
We have to sleep hard for most of the day
The streets were all quiet as I made my way
I remembered the times I had in my day
Were no longer young, we have to rest up
Tonight therell be no alcohol left in our cup
Our brains will be tiddly, well feel so good
No hangovers tomorrow, knock on wood
I cannot see what is good anymore
About winding up drunk on the floor
The streets were so quiet, I played a song
Loud on my stereo as I went along
If I wake those revelers, (Oh Dear, Oh Dear)
I will not back down, I will not show fear
If they were good employees, like me
Its already at work they would be
Normal people, tonight, dont go out for fright
For tonight, you see, is AMATUER NIGHT!

When the Discovery of Freedom was first published in 1943, only a few thousand copies were printed, and the book became a cult classic--copies were said to have been passed from reader to reader. Original editions are almost impossible to find, although a paperback edition was published in the 1990's..
