I’m now listening to Sen. Dodd, who routinely trashes the President on the floor of the Senate, that he agrees with Sam Nunn and the bunch that we have to “build consensus.”

He’s always trying to bring Republicans and Democrats togehers. He has been for a quarter of a century. (Or so he says.)

As evidence of his bridge building, Dodd says he reached out to Hagel and Specter. Why am I not impressed?

Wow. I'm on a DVR delay, so I'm only on the Cohen/Nunn interview now, but.. wow.

Now I'm seeing that Nunn and Cohen are part of Bloomberg's vehicle, Unity '08.

They want to create a "national consensus", but to what end? What position will they take on the key controversial issues of the day? Will they be for victory in Iraq, or retreat? Will they be for aggressively waging the War on Islamic Terrorism, or will they treat it like a law enforcement matter? Are they for maintaining free markets, or do they want to nationalize health care, the largest sector of our economy?

Or perhaps they plan on running without any platform at all, and say that "consensus" is more important than actually solving problems. If you don't have principles worth fighting for, then what do you plan to accomplish? If you don't think your policies are better for the country than the other side's, then what good are you to anyone?
