Yeah, the Pentagon. :-)

I am pretty sure we, the Indians, probably the Chinese and the Russians are all keeping a close eye on the Pakistani nukes but in the chaos of even, like a a successful assassination of Mushie, it could get dicey.

Gotcha, lets see at this point we have to watch out for rogue CIA or other intel agents gone south, the entire left wing of the US,the EU,a billion muzzies and all the commie nations of the world.

And where is Jack Bauer when we need him, in jail for drunk driving, not looking too good.

IMO it is overstating the situation. Lots of hyperbole. The military will step in if things look like they are getting out of hand.

Even worse, GWB was asked in rapid fire order to name the Presidents of Chechnya, Taiwan, India and Pakistan. He got a partial name of the Taiwanese, zero on Chechnya and India, and said the Pakistani was “General” something or other but not the name. What a lower- than-a-skunk stunt THAT was!

Your post to fishtalk prompted me to search a bit myself.  All I've found is a few blog posts, e.g.

Romney, Huckabee On DE Ballot; Thompson Misses Mark

Reading this it's not Fred's people, per se, but the folks in Deleware who came out to what few events he had.  Fred was generally right about the viability of his entering when he did, but it looks like he didn't take into account the continued rush to get the primaries earlier and earlier that's happened since he entered.  It looks to me like he just ran out of time in Deleware (and Washington state it appears, too).

He has to make priorities and if dropping Delaware from the list on Feb 5 allowed him to get on the ballot in the other states then it's a good trade off.  No one will stand up and shout "Fred lost Delaware" on Feb 5th if he takes a few of the other big prizes that day.

Here are the states holding Republican primaries on 2/5

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah

So if he had to skip investing time in one, Delaware was the right one to pick.  After all, there's only one real conservative voter in the state and we already know how she's leaning <g>

Tennessee is a lock for Fred, as Arkansas (probably) is for Huck, Massachusetts and Utah for Mitt and NY/NJ are likely going for Rudy. CT is a toss up between Mitt and Rudy and all of those states can be written off as "favorite son" states for those people.  The only news out of those states will be if Fred loses TN, Huck loses AR, Mitt loses Mass or Utah, or Rudy loses NY or NJ.

So what's left on Super Tuesday?

Alabama, Arizona and Georgia are Fred's big targets on Feb 5 and he's counting on South Carolina on Jan 19, a week before, as his "big get" in the South to lead into those three on Super Tuesday.  Florida is 1/29 and that's where Rudy is putting all of his efforts (going after NY retirees, mostly) but I understand that Fred has invested there heavily.  If Fred wins SC that will increase his chances in Florida.  Getting both, or even coming in a close second to Rudy in FL (based on relative positions now) would be both hugh and sirius.

I don't have a feel for the others, with the possible exception of Missouri and Oklahoma.  Like Tennessee, I have a feeling that being from Arkansas will work against Huck.  Being from TN won't necessrily help Fred in those states, but being a southerner and a gentleman will.

That leaves Alaska, California, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana and North Dakota.  I've got to think that Fred will have a good shot at all of those if he wins South Carolina only a week before.  Anybody have any feel for Republican leanings in those states or rules that would allow Dems/liberal independents to screw with things, as McCain is counting on in NH?

Psst. He wants them to come back under various guises after they leave. Not to mention, what does he mean, force them to register and leave? Define “force”. You are either naively mistaken that his plan is the toughest, or you’ve been planted here to mislead.

His immigration plan is the most conservative of any of the leading candidates. To force all immigrants to register and leave. Does any other candidate endorse that plan?

Just the opposite. What Huckabee promotes is essentially amnesty. This is just the warmed over Pence touchback plan that was a scam. Under Huckabee's plan, the illegals go back to their country for a few days or weeks and come back to the US under an authorized legal status, i.e., amnesty. This would be a disaster for the US. Not only would the status of the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens be legalized, it would also permit them to sponsor their childern, spouses, aged parents, brothers, etc. thru chain migration, which would add an additional 66 million legal immigrants over the next 20 years. Huckabee is a Huckster.

Fred Thompspon's attrition through enforcement approach is the most conservative plan and the most realistic one.

That is very reassuring. Guess I should of know to take the Drama Queen media’s assessment, discount it 80% in order to get closer to to the truth.

Some of them are, salt and vinegar flavour. The others are a local supermarkets specialty range and the flavour is Moroccan spiced lamb.

Hillary and many of her ilk are now playing the gender card with Bhutto. She wasn't killed because she was a woman. She was killed for political reasons, including the fact that she pledged to go after UBL in the tribal regions. As of 2006, 20% of Pakistan's parliament are women, which is a higher percentage than the US or the UK.

Female members of parliament - World ranking

I heard some talking heads on CNBC say that Bloomie hurts us more, any takes on that?

Yeah, I would agree it could. Center-Right voters vote issues. Center-Left voters vote personality or against things. It depends on how they run their "Unity" campaign. Based on prove track record of the people involved, they should hurt the Dems but if they run a populist anti Washington DC campaign and they could do some serious damage.

Imagine this scenario:

Bloomberg and Hagel, using Bloomberg's billions, run largely on Bloombergs domestic record as Mayor of NY and Hagels "international experience."  If Hillary is the Dim candidate she loses the MoveOn/Soros crowd big time.  If Rudy is the RINO of choice then Rudy has a good shot at taking even NY in a 50 state sweep.

The only Republicans likely to be hurt by Bloomy/Hagel are Ron Paul and the Huckster.  Ron Paul loses most of his moonbats.  The Huckster loses Republicans who have caught on to his act and, if he's the nominee, by next November that would likely be 99%.

Hillary/Rudy/Bloomy = Rudy

Hillary/Paul/Bloomy = Bloomy gains but Hillary wins

Hillary/Huckster/Bloomy = Bloomy gains but Hillary wins

All other scenarios I can picture with Hillary and any of the other Republicans the Republican gets helped by Bloomy.

If Obama is the nominee I think Bloomy will help the Dems, but only by giving racist Dems, who will never vote for a "person of color," (believe me, a large percentage of them... just look at posts at Kos and DU) a place to go that won't directly help the Republicans.  In fact, the only scenario that I see as a possibility for Bloomberg to win is for Obama to be the Dem and for him to try to appeal to racists of all stripes (including Sharpton, et al).  And he's got the money to do it in a sophisticated enough way to get away with it, for at least awhile.

All this, of course, is just my 2 cents.  I could (easily) be wrong.

The guy who runs the web site you quote....First State Politics...is Dave Burris. He was the FORMER head of the Sussex county GOP. I spoke to the new guy who replaced Dave.

Hey, Fred Thompson is very, very well liked in Sussex county. We’re all going to write him in, yes we are.

I still am not convinced that bypassing Delaware was intentional on Thompson’s part although it could be. Delaware is a small state and that 2/5 primary date is a big one. It’s just that somebody DID try to get Fred on the ballot but just ran out of time.

This is bad campaign work, duh.

I didn’t know about Washington state.

I think Fred’s going to do very well in the upcoming voting events. Even though, ahem, he treated Delaware shabbily. Heh. Here in Sussex county we think Rush Limbaugh is too damn liberal.

Harrumph.

I don’t really think he intended to skip Delaware. I think he just ran out of time and put the least of his limited resources into Delaware to concentrate on the other states. It’s possible if he’d spent the resources to be certain of getting on the ballot in Delaware he might have missed someplace else, someplace with more significance in his planning. Just a thought.

I’d really like to know the numbers on the “disallowed” signatures that had been gathered and the reasons for striking them. Who knows? It could be someone in the tank for Ron Paul or the Huckster (or an ACORN/MoveOn plant) playing fast and loose with Fred’s petitions. Not a Delaware Republican official, but someone “working for” Fred’s campaign who intentionally did things wrong, but “gathered” enough signatures that Thompson’s people didn’t spend any resources getting more before the deadline. If it were reported to them that there were, say, several thousand signatures in the bag they might have walked away happy and by the time they found out it was too late (probably 12/10 or shortly after that). By that time all of their resources were committed to Iowa.

All just speculation.
