Alleged Al-Qaeda official Mehsud denies killing Bhutto: spokesman

PESHAWAR, Pakistan : An alleged Al-Qaeda leader Baitullah Mehsud, blamed by the Pakistan government for killing Benazir Bhutto, denied any involvement in her death, his spokesman told AFP on Saturday.
"He had no involvement in this attack," spokesman Maulana Omar said in a telephone call. "This is a conspiracy of the government, army and intelligence agencies."
The spokesman said he was calling from Pakistan's Waziristan area, a lawless tribal region where Pakistani government forces have been battling Islamist militants.
"It is against tribal tradition and custom to attack a woman," Omar said.
He said the transcript released by the government, allegedly of a phone call between Mehsud and a militant discussing Bhutto's death after the fact, was a "drama" and expressed sadness over her assassination on Thursday.
He said it would have been "impossible" for militants to get through the security cordon around the campaign rally where she was killed.
"Benazir was not only a leader of Pakistan but also a leader of international fame. We express our deep grief and shock over her death," Omar said. - AFP/ch

The Pakistani government says that she died of head injuries when her head slammed against the sun-roof. One of the reports also mentioned no bullet holes in her body. However, a friend of hers in whose car Benazir was taken to hospital, claimed today that there was a bullet hole that traced the path of a bullet entering, and leaving, her neck.
Well, if Al Queda says they didn’t do it, they didn’t do it.

The Paki official that I saw making a statement regarding this said that "there were no bullets seen in her head in an X-ray". Stands to reason that if she were shot in the abdomen and neck, there would not be any bullets in her head......

It was stupid for Bhutto to be sticking her neck out of the sunroof of a stopped SUV.
Her assassination was inevitable because she wouldn’t take proper precautions. Her followers are socialist fanatics who will try to pin this on Musharriff for strictly political purposes.
I personally believe the government’s explanation. There would be no reason to lie about a bullet in the neck. Either way she is dead.

The Paki government said that they were no bullet injuries on her head,but in her neck & chest.Well,her confidante & companion,Sherry Rehman who was present there & also got injured said that she saw the head wound.
The amount of blood in the vehicle as well as the few pics of her as well as reports of brain matter oozing out points to a bullet wound rather than her head hitting the roof(you can only be seriously injured if you are driving at 100 mph).

If Benizer died as a result of a concussion/sunroof encounter, how could the persons in the telephone call have been involved?
Although there may have been a bombing, that was not the cause of death.
