Vermont town seeks Bush, Cheney arrests

By DAVE GRAM, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago

President Bush may soon have a new reason to avoid left-leaning Vermont: In one town, activists want him subject to arrest for war crimes.

A group in Brattleboro is petitioning to put an item on a town meeting agenda in March that would make Bush and Vice President Cheney subject to arrest and indictment if they visit the southeastern Vermont community.

"This petition is as radical as the Declaration of Independence, and it draws on that tradition in claiming a universal jurisdiction when governments fail to do what they're supposed to do," said Kurt Daims, 54, a retired machinist leading the drive.

As president, Bush has visited every state except Vermont.

The town meeting, an annual exercise in which residents gather to vote on everything from fire department budgets to municipal policy, requires about 1,000 signatures to place a binding item on the agenda.

The measure asks: "Shall the Selectboard instruct the Town Attorney to draft indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution, and publish said indictment for consideration by other municipalities?"

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday. The press office did not immediately respond to an e-mail.

Support for the measure is far from universal, even in Vermont, where the state Senate voted earlier this year to support impeaching the president. Anti-war rallies are regular occurrences here, and "Impeach Bush" bumper stickers are common.

As an American, I have avoided visiting the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Taxsachuttus, Road Island, NY & NJ (only to drive through just to get by them as quickly as possible), Delaware, and Connecticut. I was behind enemy lines in Washington state for years and thankfully escaped back home to Alabama. I have no desire to visit any of the Marxists states above either.

The thing about Libs: not only are they unpleasant, ill-informed, completely unrealistic, perpetually needy and wildly paranoid, they're also drama queens about it. Whatta buncha yo-yos.

It’s frightening the left is so disassociated from reality. But republicans/ conservatives tolerate this stuff rather than confront it. If this was done to the Clintons (and there is massive evidence tp support declaring either Clinton a suspect for crimes) the conservatives involved would be hounded as dangerous extremists. Why are we afraid to demand these things stop, and that democrat politicians denounce and disavow left wing insanity?

“magic mushroom mishap”

Heh, heh!

We got ponytailed greybeards right here in good ol’ Clarksville, TN. Their Yugo lookalikes look like they’re held together with liberal bumper stickers. Oh, and they’re all Vietnam combat vets, every last one.

Reckon what crimes against their Constitution they are referring to?

I have heard Vermont is a very scenic and peaceful state.

Never been there myself but know others who have.

But the state’s politics have taken an unconscionable turn to the left in recent years.

I wonder how much longer the clause you spoke of will remain in the constitution before some judicial activist judge suddenly finds it to be “unconstitutional”.

Vermont, one of those county sized snow bound states full of socialists.

I think we should incorperate a few of those states together so they do as little dammage as possible to our country.

I wonder if these guys support the towns who pass laws trying to stop the illegals from forming their own third world country there.

“Why is it that Libs (with the exception of the west coast) seem to be congregated in the winter states?”

It is not the weather that matters. They turn their former homes into a wasteland and move to better grounds. The Indians may have had a good point about the White man. Take and take and take until their is nothing left TO take.

Thanks Democrats.

Love,

A 1/4 Seminole Indian but too blonde to EVER take advantage. (thanks Mom)

Proving once again that liberal morons don’t know the definition of the term “war crime.”

Nor do they have the faintest understanding of the U.S. Constitution.
