BTW, Rudy’s father was a boxer, so I doubt he is as effeminate as you claim.

Yeah, and Ron Reagan's father was Ronald Reagan. Just as the sins of the father shouldn't be laid at the feet of the son, neither should the virtues.

From StonewallVets

New York City 2001 Gay Pride Parade

It was less than three months before the unknowing and horrific September 11th, 2001, attacks (that's two) on New York City, that N.Y.C. Mayor Rudy  Giuliani hosted his "8th Annual Gay Pride Celebration" at Gracie Mansion in Manhattan, New York.  It was held on Thursday, June 21, 2001, and for the first time, at the perennial urging of S.V.A. President Williamson Henderson, and a few others, it was held not as an early morning breakfast but as an evening cocktail party.  On Sunday, June 24, 2001, Mayor Rudy Giuliani -- and his new and unusual political buddy, Michael R. Bloomberg, successor Republican candidate for N.Y.C. Mayor -- joined the STONEWALL Veterans' Association ("S.V.A.") and the 1969 blue Cadillac "Stonewall Car" in leading the annual New York City Gay Pride Parade down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.  Of course, Rudy's office called to get the green light that the S.V.A. would have this highly successful media magnate Mr. Bloomberg, who we didn't know personally but only knew of, also as our guest.  His communications director made it clear that the Mayor was asking this favor and that he hoped that the S.V.A. -- of which he was and is an Honorary Member -- trusted his judgment in this as we have in other matters.  Guess what?  In fact, Mayor Rudy personally introduced mayoral candidate Michael to the S.V.A. President Williamson and other S.V.A. officers.  Williamson and Michael Bloomberg hit it off immediately regarding "Stonewall" right in the middle of the Fifth Avenue!  Right was Rudy!!  After all was said and done -- and plenty was done and said -- after being endorsed by and promoted by Rudy, media magnate Michael became N.Y.C. Mayor!

Well, I suppose you are not a Reagan supporter. You do know that he had 2 marriages? And that his daughter didn’t support him?

As for MTP, I’ll pick 2 examples: what did you think of his explanation for why he left the Iraq Study Group, and why he did work with Qatar? (McCain has criticized Rudy for leaving the ISG, but I found his answer excellent. There’s another article in the “Giuliani Truth File” that Rudy debunked...)

Well, Rudy has talked a bit about how the influence of his dad in making him tough. (I’m no expert on his childhood though.) Your Ron Reagan analogy doesn’t prove Rudy wrong.

Furthermore, Ron’s politics most likely developed in the teens and 20s, which is very different from the character traits that a father imprints on a boy.

Anyway, you never argued the main point which is whether Rudy is effeminate, and whether such a discussion is appropriate for such an ‘enlightened’ website as freerepublic.

Deroy really needs to wear a bib to catch all of that drooling.

LOL.....amazing that Baby Deroy could take dictation so well from Rooty's camp.

Actually, Reagan made mistakes too, but overall - I think he was a great President. No candidate is perfect, I could find fault with all of them - heck, I can find fault with myself too!

If you wait for someone you agree with 100%, you’re in for a very long wait. On a scale of 1 to 100, I’d put Reagan at about a 90. I’d put Thompson at about an 80. I’d put Romney at about a 65, McCain at about a 50, Huckabee - around 30 and Rudy - I’d say about 25. Hillary - she’s a zero in my book.

You have to pick the one that you agree with the most & Rudy is way far down that list. Sure, he’s a smooth talker (if you can ignore that lisp he has, it bothers me & takes away from what he is saying - but that is a small idiosyncrasy) but Bill Clinton is a smooth talker too - so is Huckabee. You can be TOO smooth in my book - too much like a used car salesman - saying everything you want to hear.

There are other candidates I agree with more than Rudy - that’s just the way it is. You support who you agree with & I’ll support my choice. You’ll never convince me to support Rudy, he’s got too much against him for me.

I watched Rudy on Meet the Press, I thought he stammered and stuttered his way all through it & came off badly, in my view.

Russert had to reprimand Rooty when the clown laughed uproariously at every question.

The lowest point in Giuliani's campaign was the Rudy/Judy Resurrection Job with Hannity on Fox. Rudy/Judy flopped bigtime on ABC's 20/20 interview with Bwabwa Walters saying bimbo Judy was going to sit in on Cabinet meetings.

This cockamnie idea was met with such scorn and derision, the two morons had to get Hannity to give then a half hour to let Judy deny, deny, deny she EVER wanted to sit in the Cabinet..........which nobody believes.

Russert later attributed Rooty's washout to (1) secrecy about his business dealings, (2) Bernie Kerik, Rooty's bodyguard, driver and Police Commissioner (in that order), and (3) Rooty porking his mistress on the taxpayers' dime and hiding the bills in obscure city agencies.

but Rudy's going to get the nomination -- despite what my fellow Freepers say.

Rudy is losing in all of the states preceding Super Tuesday.

If he doesn't get the momentum then, he's toast.

I would also like to know what health issue forced Rudy to have his plane turned around so he could go to a hospital - immediately! Flu-like symptoms were what they said first, but then he was released the next day looking just fine and dandy & they said it was an excruciating headache. Normally, I wouldn’t care that much - but he wants to be our President & has had cancer in the past. I want to know that my President can stand all of the stress and challenges of the job without getting sick.

He’s dropping in the polls and now there is a concentrated effort to pull him back up - with articles like this, how “tough” he is. His personal life is so sordid, it disgusts me. I wish he’d just drop out, for the good of the party.

>>>Well, Rudy has talked a bit about how the influence of his dad in making him tough.

Since YOU brought it up, do you think the toughness came from his days at Sing Sing?

Or was the toughness from the days of breaking legs to collect unpaid debt for Leo D'Avanzo? Or was the toughness from when Harold actually took over the loan sharking club, Vinny's?

Just curious as to which character trait was most influencial, since YOU suggested it.

Cancer doctors will tell you people with a history of cancer are more susceptible to other diseases. We need to see the published medical research on this to understand whether the stress and challenges of the presidency would make a cancer survivor more prone to diseases and, perhaps, to a cancer relapse.

I don’t have time to respond anymore, but just remember this:

Mitt and Huck can’t win in the general election for obvious reasons. McCain, who has disappointed conservatives with his Gang of 14 deal, campaign-finance reform, amnesty for illegals, and opposition to the bush tax cuts, would likely lose as well because his nomination would demoralize the GOP.

If we don’t make the right choice in the primaries, the November 2008 election will be over in February.

Giuliani very publicly, for maximum PR impact--- mostly to to suckup to voting blocs and campaign contributors---- ripped up a huge Saudi check made on behalf of 9/11 victims. Then very quietly, Giuliani turned around and accepted big Saudi checks when they were made out to his consulting business, "Giuliani Partners.”

The original Saudi check was made out to the "Twin Towers Fund" Rudy's special little "tax-exempt charity." Rudy appointed to the Board of Directors Arnold Schwarzenegger and his then-mistress, Judith Nathan. Giulaini then referred to Nathan as a "philanthropist."

Arnold used the tax-exempt "Twin Towers Fund" to help him launch his profit-making movie, "Collateral Damage," with Rudy and his entourage joining in on the gala event.

Good for you. You call it like you see it as Rudy Giuliani would. In the end, the SANE FReepers will vote for the Republican Nominee. And if they go third party, they’ll vote for Paul and a vote for him is a vote for PIAPS...that’s what Soros is trying to do. Drive ‘em to vote third party....so a donkey will win president.
