My Full Endorsement of Fred Thompson…

My Full Endorsement of Fred Thompson…

I posted part of this on Wednesday, but here is my full endorsement of Thompson and my reasons for doing so… So I am reposting what I had on Christmas, along with the rest of my reasons
If you feel like reading all of it, then read on…

While Fred Thompson is not leading the polls, Thompson does have a majority of endorsements from prominent conservative bloggers. Here are some of the higher profile conservatives on the Internet who have come out and endorsed or support Thompson (H/T to Josh Painter):

Polipundit, IMAO, Pejman Yousefzadeh on Red State, SayAnything blog, Rick Moran of rightwingnuthouse and the American Thinker, Rightontheright, Bob Krumm, Eugene Volokh, Beldarblog, FloppingAces, The DailyPundit (Bill Quick), David Hinz (The Hinzsight Report), Alo Konsen (Brainshavings.com), Gamecock (Race42008.com and The Hinzsight Report), John Hawkins (Rightwingnews), Jonathan Adler (NRO and the Volokh Conspiracy), TraderRob (Opinipundit), Haystack (hick politics, Redstate), Erik Erickson (Redstate), Professor Steven Brainbridge, Conservativesuperiority.com

There are many more, but not enough space or time to mention them all. Blogger endorsements obviously don’t have a large impact on the actual voting process, but what is important is that all of these pundits follow the race and the candidates closely, and make up their minds not only on soundbytes, but on substance and record. Some of these bloggers have been on board since the beginning, while others have only endorsed Thompson recently.

Well, it is time to officially add my name to the list. Of course, our readers here are well aware of who I support and I even work with the campaign, but I realized I have never really officially said “I endorse (insert candidate’s name) for president).” I’m not in the same league as some of these prominent bloggers, but this site has its share of readers and we hold our own against many on the web.

So, now it is time to officially announce that I, Tommy Oliver, contributor to Race42008.com and a member of the Federalist Society, will throw my endorsement and support behind………….

No surprise………. Fred Dalton Thompson for President of the United States.

How did I come to this decision? Well, since I actually have supported Thompson from the beginning of the draft campaign in March, it wasn’t a very hard decision. My endorsement is based on this criteria (in no particular order): philosophy, trust, policy, and the ability to appeal across the board to conservatives. However: before today, I thought that since everyone who reads my posts on the internet would obviously have a pretty good idea of which candidate I supported and I didn’t see any point in saying anything official, but today Rick Moran said that the bloggers who have a good size audience need to stand up and make your pitch explaining why they support Thompson, if they haven’t done so already. Time is running short, and this post is not only for our regular commenters here, but for those who just read this site for updates and those who might just be passing through.

Let me explain why Thompson is the candidate that measures up the best to my standards:

Exactly, just not on all charges.

Let us look at the other candidates:

-Huck voted to raise taxes 21 times in Arkansas and has disdain for the Club4Growth.
-Huck has pardoned more criminals than Mike Dukakis.
-Huck supported giving government services and student aid to Illegal aliens and dropping the embargo against Cuba.

-Mitt voted for universal health care and claimed to be a better friend to homosexual activists than Ted Kennedy.
-Mitt was elected in the most liberal state in the union.
(When is the last time a real conservative was elected in Massachusetts?)
-Mitt Employed illegal aliens.

I’m only going to address these two “conservative” cross dressers because Rudy wears his dress proudly.

But, given the fact that McCain, Romney, and Giuliani are clearly big-government conservatives, Thompson has an opportunity to seize the small-government mantle

Whats wrong with that statement? Your rant is inscrutable...Heres some advice; Don't drink and type.

Someone was a few cells short of a stem; alcohol will do that to people at times if consumed in mass. I am sure he or she made sense in their head when they were typing. LMAO trying to make any sense of it on my end.

Fred lost me when he failed to vote to impeach Clinton

Technically, Clinton had already been impeached, by the House. Thompson voted to convict Clinton on one of two counts.

I want Hunter as the nominee. If I don't see a Hunter/Thompson or Thompson/Hunter along with Brownback/Huckabee/Romney/Paul/McCain/Giulanni as running-mate, then I willvote U.S. Constitution Party come the general election; "party" cohesiveness and "electability be damned.

If the Witch, Doofus, or Mr. Silky Pony Tail the "Baby Channeler" gets elected, its not my concern; well, yeah it is, but its not on my head.

The "exodus" from Free Republic had to do with a difference in opionion concenring "electability". Many left Free Republic becuase the expression of that opinion was quashed.

I don't give a rat's ass 'bout "electability" with concerm to "consequences".

I'm not going to vote for somebody just because they're "electable" and they're MORE in line than with my view points than not.

My non-naturalized parents have already made it clear that its either Thompson, or any of the donkey candidates.

While watching Law & Order, I stated that if I seen him on the general election ballot I'd vote for Thompson, and Dad immedieately asked "And what if he's not on the ballot? You'd vote for Hillary, or Oboma?". Of course Mom jumped in right away about how Romney is the most qualified candidate of all of them.

Of course they didn't have anything to respond concerning why McRomney is the qualified candidate contrasted to those I've mentioned. For what that's worth, Monica Lewinski has more "experience" in that regard (in the Oval Office and taking care of "Presidential business" than Shrillerary does). So what of it?

Silence.

I'm not threatening to vote U.S. Constitution Party, that's a "promise".

Don't vote for the candidate, vote for the party. If you don't like the candidate that the party is floating, vote U.S. Constitutino Party. Be a part of the U.S.A. political scene: send a message. A "third" party that gets more'n half percent "gets noticed".

I think some here on FR would agree with you on your analysis,
however,
( at least for conservatives ) we try to find a candidate that comes close to what we believe in if we are given that choice, and this election season, we do, in 2 candidates : FRED THOMPSON and DUNCAN HUNTER
And I believe that is what your trying to say here.
I know you said, you don't care about electability, but, if are in between two candidates who hold your values, but, one of them has a better chance in getting the nomination and win the general, then, you go with that candidate without going against your principles.
Look, I would be pleased and happy if Duncan Hunter would get the nomination and beat the beast Hillary, but, even though Fred has a long shot of winning this, he has a better chance than Duncan does
The rest of the GOP candidates are just plain liberal RINOS.
I hope you can somehow talk to your mom and dad and talk some sense to them and convince them that if they vote for a Democrat, or a RINO they are making a mistake.

I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
