Exclusive: Ron Paul to make third party run on Constitution Party ticket
Modern Conservative ^ | Christopher Cook

ModernConservative.com has received a tip from a reliable source that may have election-shattering implications.

According to our source, an activist here in Arizona has been approached by the Ron Paul campaign; the campaign has requested that he run the Arizona effort to get Ron Paul on the general election ballot as a candidate of the Constitution Party.

Our source has requested anonymity, and we have agreed. We can, however, vouch for his/her general reliability. Our source also provided us with details that added credibility to the account. (Unfortunately, disclosure of those details would put at risk our promise of anonymity. We apologize for the unnamed sourcing and lack of further details, but those were the requirements that accompanied this revelation.)

We will keep you apprised of any new developments.

There has been a lot of analysis on the impact that Ron Paul has already had, and on the impact that he might...

As Jesse Jackson might say ‘if you’re dissed, you’re pissed’.

Paul haters

I don't hate Ron Paul. I just think voting for a guy who hangs with, helps and encourages Truthers has as much to do with conservatism and libertarianism as socialized medicine does.

The Birchite candidate on the ticket of the Birchite party. Perfectly logical.

I thought someone once said the rank-and-file of the CP was much more pro-Israel than its leadership? Shoot, even Bob Dornan (as true a friend as Israel has ever had) once ran as one of its candidates. But looks like the Nesta Webster brigade has taken it back.

With a conservative nominee like Thompson or Hunter, Ron Paul is no threat. With a liberal nominee like Rudy or Flip, Paul hands the election to Hillary. Don't be stupid with your vote.

Very well put.

The entire platform is at the link above, post 1 in The Constitution Party on the War on Terror. The quote isn't selective, but I'll post the entire preamble below. It's why they pick up support from some of the unsavory places Paul does. Folk like their Senate candidate in Delaware Mark Dankoff, who ironically writes for Willis Carto, as Paul does, and is on Republic Broadcasting, ironically run by the same fellow who gave Alex Jones his start. The want to scrap the income tax, a big Paul issue, though they plan on replacing it with tariffs and excise taxes. With the exception of they're contension that the Panama Canal is sovereign US territory, I suppose we'll invade, they're a good fit for Paul and he could easily add a tenth or two percent to their normal 0.3% or so of the vote.

I don't think the LP appeals to nutballs the way the CP, but clearly their support for a Paul candidacy (he can run on both tickets), brings that into question.

Preamble

The Constitution Party gratefully acknowledges the blessing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as Creator, Preserver and Ruler of the Universe and of these United States. We hereby appeal to Him for mercy, aid, comfort, guidance and the protection of His Providence as we work to restore and preserve these United States.

This great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been and are afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.

The goal of the Constitution Party is to restore American jurisprudence to its Biblical foundations and to limit the federal government to its Constitutional boundaries.

The Constitution of the United States provides that "no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." The Constitution Party supports the original intent of this language. Therefore, the Constitution Party calls on all those who love liberty and value their inherent rights to join with us in the pursuit of these goals and in the restoration of these founding principles.

The U.S. Constitution established a Republic rooted in Biblical law, administered by representatives who are constitutionally elected by the citizens. In such a Republic all Life, Liberty and Property are protected because law rules.

We affirm the principles of inherent individual rights upon which these United States of America were founded:

That each individual is endowed by his Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are the rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness; That the freedom to own, use, exchange, control, protect, and freely dispose of property is a natural, necessary and inseparable extension of the individual's unalienable rights;

That the legitimate function of government is to secure these rights through the preservation of domestic tranquility, the maintenance of a strong national defense, and the promotion of equal justice for all;

That history makes clear that left unchecked, it is the nature of government to usurp the liberty of its citizens and eventually become a major violator of the people's rights; and

That, therefore, it is essential to bind government with the chains of the Constitution and carefully divide and jealously limit government powers to those assigned by the consent of the governed.

The Constitution Party is firmly pro-life and pro-family.

What is Ron Paul’s position on abortion and gay pseudo-marriage?

And Fred’s following. And Rudy’s following. To a lesser extent, McCain and Hunter too.

Oh puhleeze. If it was revealed that Fred Thompson, Rudy Giuliani, John McCain or Duncan Hunter had appeared on the Alex Jones show three times, they'd lose half their supporters minimum. They'd lose the other half when it came out that Stormfront was raising money for them and that Dennis Kucinich had suggested them for a running mate.

Yet the Paulestinians hear this stuff and say it's all part of the big tent and call discussion of it "Paul-hating."

Sorry, not even close.

What exactly do you disagree with on their stand on immigration?

Not much, it's their other big issue along with the war, it seemed fair to link that thread too.

I don't hate Ron Paul.

I hear ya. Hate is a nasty thing, and we should all try not to hate the people we disagree with. There are a small number of posters, though, who really do have a pathological hatred for Paul, and have even wished him dead here on FR. That's f#%&ed up.

America is engaged in an undeclared war with an ill-defined enemy (terrorism), a war which threatens to be never ending, and which is being used to vastly expand government power, particularly that of the executive branch, at the expense of the individual liberties of the American people.

Pray tell, which of MY individual liberties have I lost? < /rhetoric >

The Fred Thompson campaign just announced he's received the endorsement of the Ottumwa Courier, a leading Iowa newspaper.

I'll try again (for the fourth time):

To Ron Paul supporters: Now how about giving me YOUR perspective on these questions (as opposed to what other Freepers have said): Will Ron Paul win? Will Ron Paul draw his support (votes, not financial) from libertarians and conservatives or liberals?

Worse than Harriet Miers?

Good Lord...you don't think Ginsburg is worse than Harriet Miers? By miles?

Hillary is a person who thought Janet Reno was qualified to be AGOTUS. The idea that there's no real difference between what she'd do and what a GOP President would do on these appointments is just plain silly.

Which is why they changed it from US Taxpayers Party to Constitution Party before the 2000 elections.

The good news is that nuclear weapons are maintenance intensive.

"Will Ron Paul draw his support (votes, not financial) from libertarians and conservatives or liberals?"

In large part, only the conservatives are willing to splinter and divide up the vote if they dont agree 100% with the nominee. (Look at post #126 as an example)

Democrats will vote for the nominee, and support that nominee no what what. It doesnt matter what that nominee is. It could be an inanimate carbon rod that wins the nomination, and the MSM and Democrats will stand behind it 100%.
