He has fought against foes ranging from the Green Goblin to Doctor Octopus, but Spider-Man now faces an even more formidable challenge: improving the battered image of the United Nations.
In a move reminiscent of storylines developed during the second world war, the UN is joining forces with Marvel Comics, creators of Spider-Man and the Incredible Hulk, to create a comic book showing the international body working with superheroes to solve bloody conflicts and rid the world of disease.
The comic, initially to be distributed free to 1m US schoolchildren, will be set in a war-torn fictional country and feature superheroes such as Spider-Man working with UN agencies such as Unicef and the blue hats, the UN peacekeepers.

And the emasculation of our favorite superheroes begins.
I wonder if Spiderman will rescue the poor little Smurfs that were bombed by the US in another UN propoganda campaign.
US slams "massive" UN budget rise, urges cost cuts
The budget was approved, BTW.
“The comic, initially to be distributed free to 1m US schoolchildren, will be set in a war-torn fictional country and feature superheroes such as Spider-Man working with UN agencies such as Unicef and the blue hats, the UN peacekeepers.”
You can almost see the comic book based on this...
Spiderman: So the US is responsible for all the trouble in the world?
UN Rep: That’s correct.
Spiderman: I’m so ashamed to be an American. I think I’ll go fight crime in Toronto.
The UN has more tentacles than Doc Ock!
Whatever happened to Ted Turner’s cartoon super hero Captain Planet or something like that?
Major propaganda
The UN engages in sexual slavery and prostitution of young people.
The UN should not have access to your kids to persuade popular opinion.
This is why I don’t buy comics anymore. How depressing.
JohnBoltonMan will surely be the greatest enemy of the blue hats.
I’ve always liked Marvel Comics, but give me the Justice League of America over this.
Hmmm. The bar scene from Star Wars joins Marvel Comics?
Yawn.
that’s okay, Marvel did some retro continuity to make Captain America the lily white “test subject” for the super soldier formula after a series of racist experiments on black people.
Stan Lee and Ron Pearlman were both Clintonistas who had their own blowback scandals.
So long Marvel, it was good to know you once upon a time.
They also had Captain America suffering a crisis in conscience by having him make the bombing of Dresden and 9-11 morally equivalent (before they killed Cap off, of course.)
First they came for our G.I. Joes. Now they take our Spiderman!
There’s gotta be a bonafide casus belli in there somewhere.
And Marvel wonders why subscriptions have been declining year after year. I guess stories that say god doesn’t exist, and your country is evil don’t sell very well. But that doesn’t stop marvel from continuing down their self destructive path.
