A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

**Children need to mix with the older generation so they can hear the stories of aunts, uncles, grandparents, and parents. This helps them learn from those who have gone before them.**
Truer words were never spoken. When I was young and growing up, I loved to listen to the ‘grown-ups’ talk about everything. I learned so much from these times. Of course, we didn’t have the things the kids have today but I wouldn’t swap the things I learned for the things these young folks are learning today! Sometimes I wish we could turn the clock back just a little for the young folks!
Thank you for today’s message, Mr. Mayor!

Hi Conor
Did the kids just love it.:) It must be fun to have young kids around. My daughter was very sweet and was so enthusiastic. We enjoyed it very much.
I hope you have a long weekend off to enjoy for the New Year. :)

Will probably work a few hours Monday - but I’ll leave early to avoid all the drunks on the highway.

I learned alot from my relatives even though we were told that kids were to be seen and not heard. They tried to keep us out of things but we pursued and heard much.
My Grand Mother told me about my mothers side of the family and my other Gram told me much about my fathers side.
I have always told my kids to listen to seasoned citizens because they are a wealth of knowledge and you can learn much from them.

Great shot of the squirrel,Kitty! I am so glad you had a wonderful Christmas at your mother’s! I LOVEd my mother’s dressing and chocolate pie. I have my mother’s instructions for making dressing that she wrote out for me..no exact measurements included..LOL..I treasure it though I never managed to make dressing like my mom’s.

Isn’t it funny that each of us thought these things? I just knew no one could make a chocolate pie like my Mama. Dressing, gee I thought Mama taught others how to make it~~LOL~~Meg, I never could make dressing like Mama. She didn’t use measurements either and I have to measure! What about chicken and dumplings? Did your mama make those? I have never had dumplings like Mama’s. I have tried but something is not right!!

I don’t like chicken and dumplings no matter who makes them..It is a favorite of my son in law’s. His mother has to make them for him..My daughter doesn’t like them either.
Don’t you just love to try to duplicate a recipe with no measurements! LOL

What a great idea!My dad enjoyed it as much as mom. Sometimes he saved the best for last and she pouted all Christmas day!
One year she had hinted (harped!) for months wanting a new wedding band. He always waited until Christmas eve night to put his gifts under the tree. Well, he came in with a fairly big, heavy box wrapped in the paper from the drug store. She was not a happy camper! When she opened it Christmas morning, he had taken the wrapped jewelry box to the drug store and they had put rocks in it before wrapping it in their paper. She was very happy!--and so was Santa.
