NBC says some find bookcase and Christmas lights offensive Candidate wishing voters Merry Christmas upsets some folks |

The latest effort to spread the idea that religion has no place in the public square comes as a response to a TV spot produced by presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. I urge you to watch the two video clips I have placed in this e-mail. First, is the ad by former Governor Huckabee wishing people a Merry Christmas. Click here to watch the 30-second ad. Next, is a clip from the Today Show (Dec. 18), hosted by Meredith Vieira, on which Governor Huckabee was a guest. Vieira opens the interview talking about how some say the ad is sending an overt religious appeal to voters. Some have become so openly hostile to the Christian faith that they are upset when a candidate simply wishes viewers Merry Christmas and mentions that --after all-- Christmas is the day Christians celebrate the birth of Christ. The governor is accused of putting a cross in the background of his ad. The 'cross' they find offensive is nothing more than a bookcase. The critics say also that three lights stand for the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! What is disappointing is that the media grabs such a concoction and makes big news out of this ad. To me, these accusations are utterly silly, and biased. Watch the clip from the Today Show. There are those who feel that nothing religious, especially wishing people Merry Christmas, should be made by anyone seeking public office. That is the attitude of those who want to drive religion from the public square.

I understand it quite well. You seem unwilling to explicitly admit that Huckabee is lying about it. So you rationalize it with the euphamism: campaign politics.
Translation: It's a bookcase that was clearly intended to form a cross in the video, but it's OK for Huckabee to lie about it because, hey, that's politics.
Yea, they'd have nothing to argue about except abortion.
ps- Hillary ain’t gonna be the nominee.
You can go to the head of the line, pucker up.
Feeling a little arrogant and intellectually superior today?

When Zeugma ducks and runs for cover, who ducks and runs for cover with him?
Jesus!

Merry Christmas!
The only thing that is obvious and objective, is that there is a bookcase in the shot. The interpretation of a cross is entirely subjective, unless you consider any two intersecting lines to be representative of the Christian Cross, which would be ridiculous.
"...the shot was intentionally manipulated to insert the Cross using the "accidental" bookcase in the background.
And you have what evidence to support this...other than your own imagination?
Here's a clue...if you have to resort to inserting conspiracies to maintain your hypothesis, then chances are your hypothesis is wrong.
I am not sure how they can not see it, but they maintain that they can not, and I have no choice but to accept that.
How noble of you.
Keeping in the spirit of things, I'm not sure how anybody can not see a mathematical symbol....or cross-hairs...or even a rolling swastika (which is what the effect of camera panning was meant to suggest....wink, wink, nod, nod)
Why, throw in a bookcase without books and the suggestion of fire (surely thee must be a fireplace in such an elegant room, and if not, then the Christmas season alone is enough to suggest one) and you have your Nazi agenda right there....
Jesus!

Indeed. Quite true. He's with me though I don't deserve it.
Merry Christmas!
“but it’s OK for Huckabee to lie “
a lie is a false statement said knowingly - what exactly did Huck lie about? That Paul is dead? That it wasnt a bookshelf?
he had fun with the msm AND the christmas bashers and I love it.

He lied that the cross image wasn’t there, wasn’t intentional. You’ve got to be a complete fool to believe him.
I suggested nothing of the sort. The only thing I suggested is the obvious, that the shot was staged to highlight the front edges of that bookshelf to form a cross. I did not mention any of the other things you suggest.
If you want to argue with me, argue with things that I have said, not with things that I have not said. Otherwise, you run the risk of looking like somebody who does not want to discuss things but rather just shouts people down.
I never implied that you did, but it doesn't surprise me that you've read design and motive into my text, that, simply isn't there.
The only thing I suggested is the obvious, that the shot was staged to highlight the front edges of that bookshelf to form a cross.
How can you form something that is already there, i.e., the two intersecting lines. Are you actually going to sit there and tell me that this "Christian Cross" is either an epiphenomenon or an emergent property of the light interacting with the bookcase?
Is that what you're telling me is obvious and objective in this commercial?
You don’t know the reactions privately though. You know how the PC crowd hates Christians and Christmas. You can send all the greetings you want to your friends and area folks, but there are thousands of others who don’t want anything to do with Christ, Christmas, or Christians.
Well, Huck, I’m a Christian and I have no intention of voting for Huckabee in the primary. If he makes it as our candidate, then yes, I WILL vote for him but not because he’s a Christian. I will vote for anyone who runs against Hilliary. We’re not all as stupid as you think. And quit insulting people you don’t even know.
NBC? They still in business? Haven’t seen an NBC for a long time, heard they had to refund money for commercials nobody was watching?
How many offsets did NBC have to buy after there Sunday Night Football Christmas light show?
Why is anyone making religion an issue in the first place? I try to keep politics out of religion as best I can . It’s not the way we do things in the US.

See it and hear it in his own words......
I really don’t know if that’s the case yet, I have to give him the benefit of doubt until I know for sure.
