Its New Years Eve a few years back: candles are lighted in Emilys cozy one-bedroom apartment, iTunes shifts seamlessly from the Magnetic Fields to Maria Callas to Nina Simone, and although we love to look out her second-story windows at the packs of people clamoring between bars and parties, and although we half-made plans to go to bars and parties ourselves, theres no way were going out. The abortion is scheduled for two days from now, and were holing up.

Emily has only a sip. She doesnt want to drink while pregnant. Its just not something you do, she says. Even though the pregnancy is scheduled to be terminated in two days, theres still something someone? inside of her she doesnt want to hurt. Im utterly baffled but mask it with a respectful, if distant, O.K. I dont want to ruin the mood. I just tell myself that we could never see this situation the same way, and that even what we decide together well have to experience separately. Thats that.HUH!!!!!!!!???????...This is just too twisted

God, am I glad I don’t ever read the NY Times. The sad thing is, this will probably win someone a Pulitzer prize. Imagine a lifeless blob of protoplasm experiencing the deleterious effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. A paradox indeed. The “abortion” seems a little less than desired by the mother, but apparently the father believes very strongly in a woman’s right to choose.

"Evil..." Yeah, it truly is. And the day before the birthday of Jesus. Must be just a coincidence...

Don’t these lovely holiday stories from the NY Slimes just warm your heart ? Makes you want to go out and kill the one you love, like these people did.

It’s just an inanimate blob of tissue. if the fetus is really just a part of her body and she doesn’t want to harm it, then she should also consider her liver, her kidneys...

It is truly sad people think this way. Absolutely shallow and sickening.

I stopped reading the NYT in the eigthies. Each year the thrill of not reading it intensifies. This is an exceptionally inappropriate story and should have been blasted into the nether world of free electrons by an editor.
The NYT is garbage. That simple.

I have noticed that lately editors have stoped spiking stories that would embarass the writers. This is a good example of what should be spiked.
