Romney On MLK Recollections: Look Up "Saw" In The Dictionary

Mitt Romney has been forced to get into some serious verbal gymnastics over his previous declaration about seeing his father, the late Michigan Gov. George Romney, marching with Martin Luther King. A close examination of the historical records shows that the elder Romney, while he was a strong support of civil rights, never actually appeared with King.

"I've tried to be as accurate as I can be," Romney told reporters. "If you look at the literature or look at the dictionary, the term 'saw' includes being aware of — in the sense I've described."

"I'm an English literature major," he added, after the questions didn't stop. "When we say I saw the Patriots win the World Series, it doesn't necessarily mean you were there." (Yes, he did speak off the cuff about the idea of a football team winning the World Series.)

A detailed definition of saw is contained in the same dictionary for political prevaricators that Bill Clinton used when he pondered what the definition of is was.

“Character matters; leadership descends from character.” -- Rush Limbaugh

He's not known as Slick Willard for nothing, you know.

Did you know that FR Willard critics are part of a DNC/KOS cabal to destroy Myth?

Seriously, someone actually posted that. Others piped in to agree.

The establishment pick (Romney) is imploding before their very eyes. Quick - we need another 15 or 20 inconsequential congressman to endorse him to remind us all that we have to vote for him .... or else!

This is what presidential politics has sunken to.

Big deal, Romney recalls his father was a big defender of civl rights and the media attacks how he said it.

Meanwhile, sheets byrd was a KKK member and the media never ever even acknowledges it. Ted Kennedy kills a girl whild driving drunk and the media is tight lipped.

The poster is obviously another one of the many mormon bigots out there.

How dare anyone besmirch the Great Romney.

If he had simply said that, he would be fine -- it's easily proven. The problem is that he intentionally chose to embellish the truth in order to make it seem more important.

It's a textbook case of why telling a stupid lie is worse than telling a simple truth.

Get over it crank. Can’t you support your candidate without being such a Mitt hater? If your candidate is so great, then you have no need to tear down the others over verbal semantics. We get it. You hate Mitt. Now move on already. The fact is we have the same goal in site, and that is to make sure one of the commies in the dem column doesn’t win the general. Why don’t you direct your venom towards your real enemies?

"When we say I saw the Patriots win the World Series, it doesn't necessarily mean you were there."

No problem, Willard foresees the development of the Latino grass mowers league to be named the "Patriots", the will win in 2020. There solved that one for the Mitt crew.

Did they "make a football" in the process? (When you're as smart as Romney is supposed to be, being compared to KKT has gotta hurt.)

The big deal is that he is disingenuous. This is not his first “untruth.” He said he was endorsed by the NRA in 2002, but was not. He said he had always ruled on the side of life in public office, but yet he gave money to the largest abortion machine in the country, planned parenthood. I could go on, but I might get carpel tunnel from all the typing, but you get the gist.
