Matthews Rubbishes Hillary Ad: I'm The Great Evita -- Worship Me!
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 12/20/2007 7:40:26 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Chris Matthews shouldn't count on a Christmas card from Hillary after the way he absolutely unloaded on her on Morning Joe today. The topic was her Christmas ad [view YouTube here], which shows her "giving" a variety of government programs to the American people] .

CHRIS MATTHEWS: I always thought the problem with Hillary was, her notion of government was, "I am Evita, I am the one who gives gifts to the little people and then they come and bring me flowers and they worship at me because I am the great Evita.

View video here. Chris was far from done.

Which troops? The US troops in Bosnia that the Clintons promised to have home by Christmas of 1996?

Still waiting...

I wonder the same thing: how can Chris “get” it this much yet still be a liberal? It doesn’t compute.

He’s strongly supporting Obama..and they recognize that if Barak can win Iowa, NH and S Carolina..they can bury her...the “inevitability” factor is gone..

“Talk about someone looking OLD. Chris Matthews needs a new makeup man. BTW, he has have liked the Clinton’s.”

Ever since we got HD, a lot of TV newspeople and actors look really bad. I didn’t realize how much analog broadcast softens age.

Chrissie sounds here like he’s taking his talking points from El Rushbo..

Rush has his "new castrati" and "testicle lockbox" while Chris Matthews has his "band of eunichs for Hillary".

Chris is stealing from Rush.

If I was a dim (of course, I’m not stupid, so I’m not)candidate, or if I was GOP candidate and end up facing PIAPS, I LOVE her ad. I would bring it back up and use it something like this.

“Remember all those multibillion dollar presents Mrs. Bill Clinton was giving away last Christmas? Well if that had been real, right about now it would be time to start paying for all those elaborate gifts — and guess who gets to pay for them?

“Here’s a hint: It’s not Hillary. That’s right, it’s you and me, the America tax payers. Want to know what the cost to you will ultimately be? An average of $3,000 a year (or whatever it really is) in increased taxes.”

I’d have a field day with it. But I made a mistake. No dim candidate will use this concept because they will be promising the same things.

Go Hillary! Far, far away!

For the first, and probably the last time, I have to admit that Chris Mathews nails it.

I wondered who he was working for. Hillary must be horrified that someone would be so vocal against her.

I think I’m getting an early Christmas present.

She said in a debate that she can’t even promise that they will be brought back by 2013...I am glad she is buying gifts for others with my money.
But as a Clinton, that is how she has lived for the past 12 years. Vacations, get a supporter to “donate” a house.
