Should Alimony Die a Quick Death?

"...in todays world, in which women have fought for the right to equality, alimony seems more like a kid getting an allowance from daddy and I believe it should be abolished altogether except for extremely dire circumstances where a spouse is older, cannot work at all, and for only a short term period. No man or woman should be held to being a slave to an ex-spouse after a marriage ends. That said, if we are going to have alimony laws, I believe that men and women should be held to an equal standard under the law."

Brie sounds like a joy.
Nigel, poor baby. How long have you had him?
I know with Lulu, my heart breaks. Just about the time she gets feathers in, she pulls them all out....or literally digs a hole in herself until she’s covered in blood. Right now shes in a body sweater-— cuz she looks like chicken Food Lion otherwise.
So many lessons we can learn from our birds.

There are even names for children without fathers such as bast@rd.That term refers to a child born out of wedlock, not a child whose parents are divorced.

Lulu is called crazy because shes a self-plucker/mutilator (talk about NEEDY). Diva, OTOH, often snubs me to sit outside and play with the other birds. Those two are polar opposites.LOL!
Do you have ANY idea how strange that sounded on a thread about alimony?

I am my husband’s second wife.
I don’t need birds.

See post 149.... Oy vey.LOL. I don't know why men have a problem with women marying them for money. After all, we can't help it. Nature has wired us that way. (That "wired" argument can work both ways, can't it?)

Good point,
I’m going to leave now for dinner and dancing-—
Spicy lamb, couscous and hopefully dessert.
Life is too short to be annoyed :)

Whats the point of arguing?OK, well, that point of view, then. I'm in no mood to argue. I'm sipping a cup of cocoa and listening to the fantastic Mark Levin.

Have a great evening, and take everyone you meet with a grain of salt
I've heard that adds flavour.
;-)
Merry Christmas.

Good little feminazi, aren't you? Are you aware this is a right-leaning message board? Why not go post on a board more congenial to your antipathy towards males?
Nobody deserves a portion of another's earnings. Slavery is intolerable. Alimony is a crime against humanity (and no, I'm not divorced, nor has there ever even been a divorce in my family).
It's clear your feminism is distorting your otherwise conservative views. Fact remains: alimony - for a man or a woman - is a violation of rights to one's own property and the fruits of one's labor.

and take everyone you meet with a grain of saltAnd a little grace and mercy.
Merry Christmas to you too.

Of course it's a slam. This female poster is trying to evoke some sort of male guilt regarding supporting one's offspring, then cleverly saying "it's not a slam" to defuse objections. Very, very clever.
The question is irrelevant. No matter what the figure is, the point is the mother of the kid is morally responsible for 50% of the cost of supporting that child. Your buried assumption that the father should be wholly responsible is sexist nonsense more suitable for a meeting of the cows of NOW.

I hope your wife appreciates you as much as you appreciate her. :)
