This is in regard to the rules for some people who live in housing units for the elderly.
They tell them that outside their own living quarters there may be no mangers, no angels and if there is a tree, it is to be called the Holiday Tree.
However, the rules for decorating it are popcorn, cranberries, icicles, snowflakes, etc. That isn't too bad but, Holiday Tree?
Now get this; for carollers, they may sing "Frosty the Snowman," "Winter Wonderland" but they may not sing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing: or "O Holy Night" or "Away in the Manger."
Why are these people who make these rules even having a celebration?
If all the things they want excluded are not recognized or used to celebrate Christmas, which is the birth of the Lord, Jesus Christ, for which the holiday is named, then they better be sure they don't have any gift giving, special meals or have time off of work because they have no reason to celebrate!
No details of a specific location but they reflect the reality of government run and financed institutions like education, housing, etc.
Good old Soviet rules in America and definitely the sprit of Old Scrooge.
I was having trouble bringing up the link. This is the letter in full.

Incrementalism? First remove Christian qualities from the holiday, then the holiday. Eventually they will celebrate only the New Year, and perhaps the sales. But gift-giving might be able to move off to Valentine’s Day.
If we don’t resist.
The assisted living facility my parents lived in celebrated Christmas big time. Thank God there was no PC crap happening in their place.
I told him I noticed the dearth of 'festivity' and Christmas Carols in the Malls, stores, restaurants, etc...
..most of them either not decorated or just basic, minimal decorations.
And he said...'When you take Christ out of Christmas, where is the joy, where is the incentive...
..it's just a 'holiday' gift buying event.
Even though in past years, as we bought our gifts, we could reflect on the season as we heard Silent Night or Away in a Manger..playing softly in some of the places....
..it's silence now... or a continuous rendition of Rudolph, or Let it Snow (in Florida??) or Chestnuts Roasting....sigh
Now I imagine each store, mall, restaurant has a list of 'carols' & I can see them take a giant magic marker and strike out each 'offensive' Christmas hymn as not PC enough...
It saddens me that I feel 'combative' when wishing a store clerk Merry Christmas, after they've wished me a Happy Holiday.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL~
The elderly residents should decorate the way THEY want to decorate, sing the religious songs THEY want to sing, and put up a manger scene and angels if THEY desire to do so.
What are the fascist bureacrats going to do, throw the seniors in jail? In order to fight these left-wing morons, you have to be willing to stand up to them.
If this is true, carollers singing there have their retirement fund waiting in the form of a nice First Amendment lawsuit. Nobody can tell you what you can sing, or that you can't sing, even if you sing badly. If that were the case Leonard Nimoy would be in prison. I wish I knew where this place was - I'd take a hymn book and go sing quietly from it until they called the cops.
After all, if pole dancing is a protected form of self expression, surely singing is.
This was a letter to the editor from last Thurday 12/13 that’s off the “York Dispatch” website now.
Link is not working.
But the writer is a real person I met years ago and who lives in this area (York County, PA).
You are exactly right. If Christians roll over like trained seals, we can expect the anti-Christ mob to keep shoving Him out of the public square. Let the senior citizens sing “Joy to the World” and see if these bureaucrats have the nerve to call the cops to evict them from their little apartments. It wouldn’t hurt to send this to O’Reilly so he could give this some much-needed publicity.
Get a dozen people to show up at a mall somewhere, and spontaneously break into O Holy Night or some other wonderful Christmas Hymn.
Smile and say "Merry Christmas" to every sales person you deal with.
Don't buy or use any Christmas Cards that don't say Merry Christmas on them.
Demand Christmas stamps at the post office--the ones with a religious theme on them. Don't buy any others of those "cutesey" things.
Get your church, friends, or neighbors organized and go Christmas caroling.
Don't just roll over when your school is trying to remove Christmas ---make some noise--organize as many parents as you can--DEMAND YOUR RIGHTS. We've got to learn to do this--other people demanding and getting "their rights" is what's got us where we are---we have to quit just laying back and taking it.
No more "nice" guys--we need to make just as much noise and as many demands as the leftists have been doing for years--inch by inch, drip by drip, taking away our lives as we have always known them,
Others can add ideas here that are probably much better than mine. Let Freepers light up Christmas and show the way.
Go to it!
Stay safe, stay armed!
Yes, I agree - Christmas is dying...for now.
I must report, however, that I was in a golf shop yesterday and Bing Crosby was singing REAL carols on the speaker. It was a shop with a bunch of white haired gents behind the counter. Very refreshing.
If Christmas trees are Holiday tress then NO Menorah...it’s now a minor holiday candlebra! I am SICK of this.
“Eventually they will celebrate only the New Year, and perhaps the sales. But gift-giving might be able to move off to Valentines Day.”
And just WHO is this Valentine that you want to celebrate with gift giving?
See The Go Fish Guys on this awesome video “It’s Called Christmas” :

My question. If some of those living living there get together and sing O’Holy Night, Hark The herald Angels Sing and others like them, exactly what can be done to stop them?
I believe Valentine has been demoted. Here’s the wikipedia explanation:
“The saint’s feast day was removed from the Church calendar in 1969 as part of a broader effort to remove saints viewed by some as being of purely legendary origin.”
So in this case the Church did the “rewrite.”
At the post office yesterday, I mailed two packages: One to a Chaplain's Office on a Marine Base, in care of a Priest, and the second to the Rosary Army. Then I asked for some Christmas stamps. Without asking my prefernce, the clerk pulled out three books of the Christmas stamps (Mary and Christ child), and she told me "Merry Christmas" at the conclusion of our transaction.
I told her "Merry Christmas" right back. We both smiled.
If non-Christians want an “inclusive” holdiday, then they should have one. They should also do all the shopping, decorating, party-planning and caroling.
They should also do all the good deeds.
The pagans agnostics and atheists and simply secularists (who claim their inclusive rights to “holiday trees” and “nonreligious caroling” because of pagan roots of some customs) - should be expected to pay the freight for holiday spirit by feeding the poor on December 25th and giving gifts to the children and elderly.
Perhaps Christians should keep our celebrations private, should do good deeds every day, opt out of the materialism crap, and keep the nativity scene in our hearts where no one can censor it.
Name this place in York PA. Nothing changes by hiding bad facts.
