We refused to sign Kyoto also, and then our states and even cities started implementing all the protocols anyway. It’s more or less smoke and mirrors. And you can bet your sweet bippied the federal government is laying out plenty of guidelines on how to facilitate this.

Bali / climate: the United States reject a final compromise text

NUSA DUA (Indonesia) - The United States on Saturday rejected a proposal to Bali final agreement on climate change, demanding additional commitments of developing countries.

"I must say that we can not accept the wording because it represents a significant change in the balance that many of us have tried to find," said Paula Dobriansky, head of the American delegation in Bali.

"The numerous statements by many large developing countries to ensure that they wanted to respond to the urgency of climate change is not reflected in our agreement," she added.

The statement by Ms. Dobriansky was hosted by huées in the room.

"The United States on Saturday rejected a proposal to Bali final agreement on climate change,..."

Well, I reckon that must irritate Al Gore - subsequent to his comments he made yesterday (denouncing US policy in Bali).

Good, Bush is finally starting to act like the President he should have the last 5 years.

His new AG just told the Congress to buzz off on the CIA Tapes investigation, he is vetoing porked up spending bills, he finally got rid of Gonzalez, and switched to the Surge which he should have done 3 years ago.

This news breaking on Drudge: Al Gore erupts as US disrupts. The amount of CO2 from the erupting Al Gore has caused a tsunami to engulf the entire Bali global warming meeting.

Okay, to recap - Ms. Dobriansky announced U.S. opposition to the compromise text. The crowd booed her. Then she announced that the U.S. would go along with it after all.

I have in my possession a “Magic Bean” that, if crushed, can release a mysterious energy that will stop, and reverse the damage caused by, man made global warming. The “Magic Bean” is invisible or I would post pictures of it.

I obtained this “Magic Bean” through great personal sacrifice. I will gladly crush it after I receive One Hundred Billion Dollars. That is not too large a price to stop global warming! Is it?

Yes, after the booing, we caved in. Capitulated. Surrendered. Submitted. Buckled under. Folded. And gave up.

What a waste of energy that conference was.

Ten thousand a-holes spent two weeks of fun in the sun. Great for the local tourist trade. The only downside was that so many got there by sucking up tax-payer dollars.

As far as the "conference," it will have about as much impact as the next Elk's convention.

In my opinion the U.S. and other rich nations are not the problem. The U.S. gets no credit for it’s vast forests, grasslands, wetlands, huge parks and agricultural under cultivation all of which provide globally significant carbon sinks. In 2006 U.S. “greenhouse gas” emissions declined 1.5 percent. Business and industry—propelled by free market bottom lines—improve energy efficiency daily and have done so since the 1973 Arab oil embargo.

The UN needs to go after the Third World where slash/burn agriculture and clear-cut logging are deforesting their countries. These activities account for 20 percent of world greenhouse emissions—greater than all the annual emissions of the US. And if the UN can be believed, world animal husbandry creates more greenhouse gas than the entire transportation sector of the world.

The UN needs to lay off the guys in the suits and start investigating the guys in the loin cloths and the painted faces.

Nothing changes. No new taxes and it’s still all our fault. I guess sneers from public transportation dependent Europeans is inevitable as well. It begs the question. What if I like killing the Earth?

None of this is about climate...you guys need to grasp this.

This entire game...is about wealth distribution. Look at the carbon credit game. Look at the Kyoto Treaty.

There was a belief in the late 90s that by planting a massive amount of trees...we could counter the evil-carbon issue. The Kyoto treaty actually strikes this idea down somewhat and doesn’t credit any country who plants trees. Any solution ought to be ok in countering carbon...but planting trees wasn’t going to be accepted. Then they even wrote in a clause...which says that genetically-altered trees were a absolute no-no. They knew that American technology would be developed at some point to greatly counter the carbon threat (pretending it exists of course)...so they even forbid development of special trees.

Ask yourself...why would you pick and limit the ways of fixing any issue? No company in America operates under this thinking. If you have a problem....you examine all solutions.

So it is all a game, of sorts. Adding to it...some fine hotels in Bali for those poor scientists and government workers...who boozed it up for two weeks.
