Honoring Heroes at the Holidays to be in New York, Sunday, December 16th
* Honoring Heroes at the Holidays * - Holiday Cards for the Troops! -
Gathering of Eagles is proud to announce the Move America Forward caravan will arrive in New York City on Sunday, December 16th, at 1 pm, culminating their 16 state cross country caravan collecting Holiday Cards for our young men and women serving overseas this Holiday season. If you did not have an opportunity to greet the caravan in your state, take advantage of this opportunity to send cards to the troops!
Let's pull out all the stops and get as many cards as possible written and delivered to them on their arrival here.
Time is short. two days left to get cards written and mailed to arrive in New York so let's get a move on!
****************************************************** Instructions for preparing cards: 1.Write an appropriate supportive holiday message to a soldier on the card. 2. Sign the card (with a return address if you want a thank you from the troops) 3.Do NOT seal the envelope. 4.Hand drawn cards can be folded without an envelope and addressed as below. 5.Address the card as follows depending on the card inside: ·Christmas Card for Our Troops ·Holiday Card for Our Troops ·Hanukkah Card for Our Troops
Place the individual cards into a larger envelope or box and bring to the rally on December 16th or address and mail them by December 14th to:
Honoring Heroes at the Holidays c/o The Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmans Club 283 Lexington Avenue New York, NY 10016
******************************************************
There will be a large rally in New York City to welcome the caravan at Zuccotti (Liberty) Park, Liberty Street and Church Street by the World Trade Center site starting at 1 pm on Sunday, December 16th. Please plan to attend with your family and friends to deliver your cards personally! Cards will be available at the park to fill out and mail to the troops!
We will all enjoy the comfort of friends and family this season while our young military men and women will be serving far away from home. Let's take a little time now to show them that we are thinking about them and supporting the fine job they are doing for us around the world!
Thanks for all you do!
Sessions is one instance where I'm glad the partisan moonbats in the U.S. Senate during the Reagan administration blocked one of the Gipper's judicial nominees.
He's worth a 100x more to us in the U.S. Senate.
Sorry...I should have pinged you to Post 17.
Always a pleasure! ;*)
Have a safe trip and a great rally tomorrow and don't forget to report back on how it went. ;*)
Will do.
Thank you for the wonderful pictorial.
Do you have any idea how many attended?
The Army Band and the Marine Color Guard certainly added to the event. Thanks for being there.
Were there any other FReepers that you know of that attended?
.
Here’s a bump.Pamela aka Atlas Shrugs,you sure have a long name:)
Yes, there were a handful.
Most of the other people came here with the caravan organized by MAF and the Gold Star mothers, or with Gathering of Eagles.
There were also some from the AUC, and one or two Patriot Guard Riders, IIRC.
There were 3-4 dozen people, approximately.
The speeches by Melanie Morgan and Col. "Buzz" Patterson were well-received, as was the moving story told by Gold Star mother Debbie Lee.
Couldn't tell who was who today, they all looked alike....wet.
Isn't the Lt. Col. awesome!!! ;*)
Oh great, missed it.

A shock before angels and men... check out the right sidebar after you read it. Give them props for the miracle.
Yup! I was there...though I suppose I am equal parts GOE Freeper now!
My little Freepers in training did well but I did have to get them out of the rain after 2 hours in the cold!
Hope the little FReepers managed okay and have great stories to share at school. ;*)
Were you there? I didn’t see you.
It is amazing what a stop at the food court at Grand Central will do to solve the worlds ills!
I was feeling pretty good about the 400 letters we brought from school and church...until the man behind me said he needed help unloading the 5800 he had!
Great day despite the weather....
“Isn’t the Lt. Col. awesome!!! ;*)”
Oh yes!
