A suspected bias attack on four Jewish subway riders in New York City has resulted in a friendship between the Jewish victims and the Muslim college student who came to their aid.
Walter Adler is calling Hassan Askari a hero for intervening when Adler and three friends were assaulted on a subway train in lower Manhattan on Friday night.

Uhhh you’ve never been to the deep south before have yah.Get all your info about us from Family Guy , Bill Clinton ,Al Sharpton and “Oh Brother Were Art Thou”,..Nice...By the way, my sister is married to a Jewish man, I got Jewish blood from a couple of generations back, my brother in law, his extended family and myself,never had a problem in the deep south,we were born here, scuse me.(SARC)>

Wrong choice of word on my part. Bigotry is usually rooted in ignorance, not hate. It isn't your fault that you weren't raised well.
Right, no bigots in the deep south. lol I’m just saying that there are a lot of Jewish people in NYC...seems an odd place for a hate crime against them to take place as opposed to somewhere where a lot of them don’t live.

The most bigoted white folks I have ever met in my life live in the stretch from Boston to NJ. They are a minority, but they are quite open about it. Don’t get me started on the high degree of residential segregation here relative to the south and west.

I’ve pinged some of the folks who picked up on your slur.
I'm more observant than most. I'm in shul for three hours plus most Shabbat mornings, and I study regularly. But I do sometimes do secular things on Friday night, and even occasional Saturdays, so it doesn't seem so odd to me that some nondescript group of Jews would be on a subway on Friday night.

The mayor of the town I just moved from, 70% black, is Jewish. That “Slapshot” guy has taken one too many pucks to the head, I think.
