WASHINGTON - Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, asks in an upcoming article, "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers?"
The article, to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine, says Huckabee asked the question after saying he believes Mormonism is a religion but doesn't know much about it. His rival Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, is a member of the Mormon church, which is known officially as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The authoritative Encyclopedia of Mormonism, published in 1992, does not refer to Jesus and Satan as brothers. It speaks of Jesus as the son of God and of Satan as a fallen angel, which is a Biblical account.
A spokeswoman for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Huckabee's question is usually raised by those who wish to smear the Mormon faith rather than clarify doctrine.

An individual within the Mormon church must have [LDS] priesthood authority to act in the name of God when performing the sacred ordinances of the gospel, such as baptism, confirmation, administration of the sacrament, and temple marriage. If a man does not have the priesthood, even though he may be sincere, the Lord will not recognize ordinances he performs (Gospel Principles, p. 81, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1995 edition).
Now this is important because a person must be married in the temple in order to achieve the highest level of heaven, or eternal life (see Gospel Principles, p. 297). So to clarify this doctrine of the LDS - if you can't hold the priesthood you can't marry in the temple - and if you can't marry in the temple, you can't have a temple marriage, and if you can't have a temple marriage you can't achieve eternal life or 'exaltation'. In summary any black prior to 1978 was barred from achieving eternal life. This is not my doctrine its YOURS. And you are honestly going to say that blacks weren't 2nd class citizens and segregation was WORSE????? Come on...........

Well, I sort give up trying to make sense to them. It is important for them to have the cliff area and drop stones on us. Mormon bashing is great sport here. I wonder why I get along so well with my family despite them being Catholic and Protestant. I guess they do not spend time at “conservativegramma” U. I thought this was a political forum, but as long as Romney is running I guess we are bloodsport. They were pretty quiet as long as Reid was running the Senate. I think they prefer Mormon nutcases like Reid to real conservative Mormons.

I’ve noticed that. They ain’t happy unless they can run somebody else down. Just like many of the Southern Baptists I knew in my youth.
You know I was a Methodist in the South and they were pretty nice people and a very tolerant of people. I still have many friends from my old church in Okla.
I knew lots of Methodists in Tennessee. Generally, a fine bunch of folks with a streak of left wing liberalism running through much of their ministry.
I said Huckabee framed his faux innocent question in such a way to ensure maximum appeal to religious bigots, and I meant it. I am not calling anyone in particular a religious bigot, but someone who could delight in a phraseology so blatently intended to evoke a visceral “ick” response in the listener should go reread the Golden Rule and remind him/herself that WWJD doesn’t mean, “Who Would Jesus Diss?”

If you do not recognize the eldest son as Jesus, it is stated more clearly by Milton R. Hunter, member of the Mormon First Council of the Seventy. Written and published under the direction of the General Priesthood Committee of the L.D.S. Council of the Twelve, Milton explains: "The appointment of Jesus to be the savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer, son of the morning. Haughty, ambitious, and covetous of power and glory, this spirit-brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the Savior of mankind."
Not only is the Mormon Jesus the spirit-brother of Lucifer, but of all mankind as well. Mormon doctrine teaches that every man, woman, and child on earth was born in the spirit world before coming to this world to take on "tabernacles" of flesh.
Mormon Apostle Bruce McConkie, quoting Joseph F. Smith (of the first LDS Presidency) explains: "All men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother, and are literally the sons and daughters of Deity."
McConkie continues with his own wording: "...as spirits they were the 'off-spring of celestial parentage.' These spirit beings, the offspring of exalted parents, were men and women, appearing in all respects as mortal persons do, excepting only that their spirit bodies were made of a more pure and refined substance than the elements from which mortal bodies are made."
McConkie then explains the Mormon Jesus: "Christ, the Firstborn, was the mightiest of all the spirit children of the Father."
In his explanation of the devil, McConkie says: "The devil is a spirit son of God who was born in the morning of pre-existence....When the plan of salvation was presented--and when the need for a redeemer was explained, Satan offered to come into the world as the Son of God and be the redeemer. 'Behold, here am I, send me,' he said. 'I will be thy son.' 'I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor,..."
yep...we had leftists running the HQ group. My church refused to send money to HQ, we thought they were commies.

Again, lots of this stuff flows directly from traditional Scandinavian religions right through to a group known as Church of the First Born (not the Mormon brand BTW so put down your guns), and from them right into the Mormon hoi poloi folk tales (which may be orthodox, or "jack", but most likely "jack".
Whenever you come up with what you believe is a Mormon doctrine you really have to give us a reference to the source, e.g. Book of Mormon, Doctrines and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, etc. Just "common knowledge" won't do it since there are so terribly many "other" cultural groups drifting around in the same parts of the world (Utah, Snake River Valley, Riverside County, for example)
We rely on "what Jesus said or did", not what we imagine He might do.
The Moslems got into a lot of trouble with this method by sitting around thinking of what Mohammad and his 12 Apostles might have decided or done in any given instance. They then based their Sharia Law on such thoughts, locked it up in 1000 AD or thereabouts, and have stuck with it ever since ~ irrespective of rank injustices in the text.
So, that's why WWJD is not relevant to this debate.
So, no extraBiblical stuff.
Meanwhile, Baptist presidential candidate Duncan Hunter is sticking to the issues that matter, and yet not many people have heard him bring up religion in his campaign.
Might explain his low poll numbers?
Should Hunter throw his Christianity into this mess for the “shock and awe” value and press coverage?
