(From April 26, 2007) David Huckabee Reacts To Arrest (Mike Huckabee's son)

David Huckabee, 26, the son of former Gov. Mike Huckabee, was arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly attempting to board an airplane with a handgun at Little Rock National Airport.

After being released from the Pulaski County Jail, Huckabee called the incident "a silly mistake" and said "it shouldn't" affect his father's presidential campaign.

According to the police report, the gun was a Glock and had a clip in it. Huckabee was asked if he knew what was in the bag, and “he replied he did now.” The report says he told authorities that he forgot the gun was in the bag.

Huckabee was arrested for carrying a weapon in a prohibited place at about 6 a.m.

Sorry, I can be considered a gun nut but people who forget where their guns are should not be allowed to have them.

In this day and age there is no excuse for a gun owner to “forget” a hand gun, with a mag in no less, is in their carry on luggage and walk into an airport with it.

Okay, I’ll bite. David Huckabee should have followed the law. He didn’t. He should pay his fine without complaint. What that has to do with Fred, I fail to see.

He should also join Weight Watchers and start doing aerobic exercise, but that’s unrelated to this incident.
