That Huckabee fella Ain’t too Bright
Conservative Superiority ^ | December 6, 2007 | Tommy Oliver

Posted on 12/07/2007 8:42:50 AM PST by Josh Painter

From a brand new GQ magazine interview with Mike Huckabee, via MSNBC:

GQ: So, generally, do you think it’s fair for people to take a candidate’s theological convictions into consideration at the polling place?

Huckabee:As long as everyone gets the same scrutiny. That’s what I don’t think is fair: I’ve been given an unusual level of scrutiny. No candidate gets quizzed to the depth that I do about faith.

GQ: Really? Even Mitt Romney?

Huckabee: He hasn’t gotten nearly as much for his Mormonism as I have for being a Baptist. I mean, I’ve never heard the kind of interviews with him that I got from Bill O’Reilly or Wolf Blitzer. No one’s just kept pressing and pressing and going into the details of his doctrine. Not that I’ve heard.

GQ: In the past, being a minister was your job.

Huckabee: Okay, but are you quizzing Rudy Giuliani about being a lawyer? I haven’t been a pastor in sixteen years. I mean, if you want to go back sixteen years and ask Fred Thompson, “What were you doing?” I don’t mind; I just think that there’s—

Now, I am hardly a Mitt Romney fan. In fact, I can’t stand him, but come on… Huckabee thinks he’s got it harder than Romney on religion? Is he serious? The guy who has campaign ads that refer to him as the “Christian Leader” and cameos by Chuck Norris now thinks the media’s after his religion. Get over yourself, Huckabee.

This has got to be the dumbest thing I’ve read all day from him, and I’ve seen a lot of dumb come out of his mouth the last two days.

Huckabee, grow up and quit whining like a democrat.

Hrm. I was thinking about supporting Huckabee, but the more I read, the less I like.

I may shift to Thompson. I just wish he didn’t have this “all I have to do is show up” attitude. Get some fire in that belly, Fred!

Love to be able to support Hunter, but that’s just not going to happen. I need to boost the poll numbers of a candidate that can take Rudy and Mitt out of the top spots (although I respect Mitt a bit more after The Speech).

Here’s some more about the MSM’s pick for Hillary’s opponent. I am soooooo sick of hearing about this guy and his “faith”. Romney’s faith is his own business. I am a Roman Catholic and would fight against a priest being POTUS, a rabbi, or a mullah. Why does the Huckster insist on portraying himself as God’s Chosen One? He’s not.

Huckabee doesn't have it "harder" in the sense that being a Baptist isn't generally perceived as the obstacle being a Mormon is.

However, Huckabee is right in saying that he is grilled far tougher on religious doctrine than anyone else, especially Romney. Can you imagine the howls of outrage if Romney was subjected to half the doctrine scrutiny by the MSM that Huckabee is?

Or better yet, Obama?

"Isn’t the word in this headline actually spelled “feller?”"

It depends if you are from the southern or a northern plains redneck, and with or without front teeth. Otherwise, both ways are 'correct' speelings of non- words

They give a free ride to (and even praise) all those whom they believe their candidate could easily trounce.

It is sad when the right is reduced to the left’s “he’s dumb” tactics.

Huckabee strikes me as three parts Jimmy Carter and two parts Bill Clinton. And, I might add, they’re the worst parts of each.

"I’ve seen a lot of dumb come out of his mouth the last two days."

Interesting way of saying it. However, this goes with the typical bigotry from the left concerning conservatives. They think we are Bible thumping yahoos from fly-over country with hay seed in our mouths and gun-racks in our pick up trucks. We are the low edge of the Bell Curve on the lower edge of evolutionary development. Of course, when we talk, you can see what we say because our cleft lip allows spit to shoot all over those we talk to. Uh huh. . . Drooooool.

I’m not a Huckabee supporter but I’m inclined to agree with him. All candidates should be subject to the same degree of scrutiny about their religion if they profess it an important part of their lives. IIRC, Lieberman’s run for the Democratic nomination for President in 2004 wasn’t accompanied by any measurable degree of scrutiny regarding his religion’s influence on what would have been his conduct of our foreign policy in the Middle East, for example.

". I just wish he didn’t have this “all I have to do is show up” attitude. Get some fire in that belly, Fred! "

I totally prefer Fred's "I'll take this job if you really want me" kind of attitude to say hillary's OBSESSION to become president- that obsession scares me coming from anyone, not just because it's hillary.

What has the left's view of conservatives have to do with Huckabee?
