Jane Fonda summed up this view best in which she called Clinton "a ventriloquist for the patriarchy with a skirt and a vagina." (It would be such a great quote, except when was the last time Hillary wore a skirt?).......
They are like her, but they don't like her.
Such is the curious phenomenon of many educated, professional, liberal women of a certain age when it comes to Hillary Clinton, the Los Angeles Times reports. In fact, upper-middle-class women on the left are "historically her toughest crowd," the paper reports.
Why is this? The Times offers a handful of possibilities:
1) They're not as worried about job security as their more blue-collar peers (who are more pro-Clinton), so they feel free to judge the New York Senator as a peer.
2) They're disgusted by the fact that, while they struggled to break through barriers in the workplace, Clinton hitched her star to her man and followed him to the top.
3) They're disappointed by her support of the Iraq war and the fact that she has recreated herself as a centrist.
4) Women hold each other to an unrealistic standard.
5) She's trying to act too much like a man.
"What you may be hearing is the commitment to pacifism that some women associate with feminism," said Wendy Kaminer, a 57-year-old author and lawyer. "It's what I think of as the 'feminine' strain of feminism that sees women as bringing something to the table because they are not militaristic, work by consensus and don't play the boys' game. And Hillary is someone who has played the boys' game exceedingly well."
Jane Fonda perhaps summed up this view best in an interview with the LA Weekly last May, in which she called Clinton "a ventriloquist for the patriarchy with a skirt and a vagina." (It would be such a great quote, except when was the last time Hillary wore a skirt?)
The Times says Clinton has been working to overcome this skepticism from her sisters by appearing on "The View" and telling a Chicago audience that "I'm your girl."
Why this should endear her to feminist peers, I'm not quite sure, but something seems to be working. Support for Clinton among college-educated women jumped from 29 percent in June to 50 percent in October, according to the latest LA Times/Bloomberg poll.
Reason #2 translated: Hillary slept her way to the top.
I think you’re on to something there. In my work I’ve noticed that professional relations between women are far more tense than relations between men and women (regardless of which is the superior and which is the subordinate).
I don't think women were created to work well together. I think they were created to work well in support of their husbands and to have a rather limited number of extremely close, sisterlike, friends with whom they feel zero competition.
Those ankles have ballooned a bit since this picture....
At the very core, Leftism embraces self-loathing. Incapable of humility, this is the logical outcome of imperfection.
Unfortunately, it is just that simple. We should try to pray for them (though I often fall short). cheers.
Why do Liberal womyn hate Hillary?
She reminds them too much of themselves.
That’s cause you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Absolutely hilarious at the time too.
I couldn’t resist sharing. :-)
It's a "fact" that the Beast is a centrist? Says who? The Beast is a flaming communist who wants independants to think she's a centrist.
If the Beast is a centrist, then I'm Woody Hayes.
`Why Lieberal Wymin Hate the Canklesaurus REx’
Because the National Organization for Women never had to do, and has not had to do since, the stupendous amount of frantic `special pleading’ that they did from 1992 to 2000.
I have to agree with you. That's why the media, from movie themes--the so-called chick-flicks, to magazine articles, talk shows, books, and tv shows for the past decade or so have been pushing this "girlfriend" thing. I think Madison Ave., Hollywood, or whomever the powers that be are trying to irradicate the image that women basically hate each other.
~you owe us both keyboards~
shhooopa, shhooopa, shhooopa...
I don’t think it’s been altered. I believe it was shot in 2003 or 2004.
Wrong answer. Leftist women spend their entire lives trying to be like men, so Hillary doing so as well shouldn't bother them in the least.
The answer to the question ("Why Liberal Women Dislike Hillary Clinton") is a simple one -- they don't think she's nearly liberal enough. Then again this is the same crowd who thinks GWB is an ultra-conservative.
Today's woman doesn't take that kind of public abuse, not for any reason, you must have ideals
Because polls show white men overwhelmingly support Hillary. /sarcasm
"I am Emmitt Smith."
Oof, pray for Jane Fonda, huh? I'll really try. I had to think a bit about "incapable of humility", but of course you are right. Thank you, I even feel better, LOL.
They can’t stand her because maybe looking at her is like looking into a mirror? I think that’s the answer.
To make matters more complicated, there are now new notions of whether a woman should hitch her star to a man in order to get ahead. It used to be considered just fine, and now looks a little like cheating.
She can blatantly go ahead and do so, and suffer the outright scorn of her female peers, and this is what is partly happening to Hillary, although she has tried to camouflage her actions with a good feminist line.
