That is a prediction that I think you just may be right about.
I watched the Kennedy speech tonight after Mitt's speech. Kennedy may have covered much of the same ground but the inspiration, excitement and from the heart feeling, just weren't up to Mitt's delivery.
This could well be the finest speech ever given by a presidential candidate.
You may well be right. : )
Like all Romney campaign communications, this ultimately means nothing.
The moral caloric equivilent of cotton candy.
It might look pretty and have a nice hue, but its nothing but spun sugar and air.
Personally, I have a hard time imagining anyone else in the Republican or Democrat field delivering such a speech.
Maybe instead of debates, they should all be asked to deliver 20 minute speeches on different topics....just an idea.
You're losing your punch, EV. Pretty insipid comments, coming from you.
Especially for Mitt Romney, since he just discovered this principle so recently. Like today.
Too bad his entire record, and his other positions, stand in direct opposition to his newfound rhetoric.
Which, at the time, to him meant implementing gay marriage, even though no constitutional provision or law exists allowing such an abomination.
This is all a typical Romney dodge.
Sophisticated lying, that's all it is.
What a horrible joke. He didn't keep his oath to the Massachusetts constitution. Not even close.
He can't make a decision without asking the lawyers what to do.
He's a judicial supremacist who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the Oval Office.
The worst religious pander-fest I've ever encountered.
"We are the world..."
Does this mean that Romney has now dropped his claim that states' rights trump unalienable rights?
In short, this speech was self-serving, shallow, and pedestrian. And it bears no relationship to the man’s 35-year record of word and action in American politics.
It reminds me of Bill Clinton giving a speech on chastity and marital fidelity. With a good speechwriter, he could say the right words, at least to some extent. But it wouldn’t mean anything in the real world.
What are you smoking tonight?
Nothing. But, the kind of koolaid y’all are drinking tonight is quite evident for all to see.
What is evident is that you don’t have the class to give this man his due. This was a great speech and may be the best from any candidate for this office.
He may not win the presidency, but this was one hell of a speech....not deliverable by anyone else running in either party.
What a bunch of deceptive claptrap. It is the convictions of "religious people," actually people of faith, that are the wellspring of any true "movement of conscience."
And Mitt Romney spent his entire career undermining those convictions of conscience on which people of faith stand.
We don't need Mitt Romney to speak to them at all. It is our principles that are "speaking to him." And from all appearances, his only response is self-serving lip service to those principles.
ROFL...
That’s just stupid.

"Gov. Romneys speech was a magnificent reminder of the role religious faith must play in government and public policy. His delivery was passionate and his message was inspirational. Whether it will answer all the questions and concerns of Evangelical Christian voters is yet to be determined, but the governor is to be commended for articulating the importance of our religious heritage as it relates to today."

I want to start with Mitt Romney today, Mitt Romney's speech. Frankly, I thought what we saw today, folks, was a Republican candidate for president giving an inspiring speech. It was an inspiring speech about American values, including religion. Mitt Romney did this because he has been relentlessly attacked as something less than a true American. I watched this. I had seen some excerpts from the speech published before he made it. I thought he was inspiring, folks. I think he set exactly the right tone and I am stunned by some of the criticism I am seeing of this speech, particularly on some conservative websites. "He didn't include atheists; he didn't include agnostics; he didn't say and reach out to Hindus." I don't understand it. Of all things to take from this speech that Romney gave today, that he didn't reach out to atheists and didn't reach out to agnostics, is beyond me. I thought he showed today his ability to confront, to articulate, to persuade, and to lead.
-Rush Limbaugh
If Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination, it will be due in large measure to his splendid and moving defense of his faith and beliefs delivered today at the George Bush Presidential Library.
The address was courageous in a way John F. Kennedy's speech to the Baptist ministers was not...
...This was a tour de force, and it was delivered before perhaps the largest audience Romney will have for any speech before the January caucuses and primaries. It will be the subject of editorials and columns in coming weeks. And it is hard to see how Romney does not benefit hugely from what was a quintessentially "American" address.
-Pat Buchanan
It is interesting that he mentioned the Muslim faith, as well as others, but did not mention a word about the Mormon faith.
Gosh. He better double his speech-writer’s salary.
But, it still bears no relationship to his record or even his current stances, changable as they are.
It isn't that comedic..
