LOWELL, Mass. -- A local dog owner is devastated after her dog was shot and killed.
Michelle Verville was walking her dog, Smokey, in the Lowell-Dracut State Forest last week when she heard a gun shot. Smokey, a 4-year-old Labrador retriever, yelped and Verville noticed that her dog had been shot in the stomach.
"I just stayed there with him and told him that it was ok, and that we loved him and that he was a good dog, and then he passed," Verville said.
it is legal to hunt for deer in State parks from Nov. 26 to Dec. 8.
According to Verville, shortly after Smokey was shot a hunter came out of the woods, where it is legal to hunt for deer in State Parks from Nov. 26 to Dec. 8. The man claimed that he did not shoot the dog and left without trying to help the fatally injured canine.
State Environmental Police are investigating the incident.
Yup, appears the easiest way to get liberals to blow their cover here is to post a (misleading) “hunter shoots dog” story.
Are you one of those clowns that believe anyone with a license and gun knows what they’re doing?
In NY, discharging a firearm within 500 yards of a residence can get you into trouble if you are caught.
Kids get in trouble with that all the time with BB ‘guns’.
Welcome to NY, the Twilight Zone.
Easiest way to get trolls to reveal themselves is to let them retread...

We actually had a guy kill 3 deer,
in a fenced in wildlife exihibt!
AND HE WAS PROUD OF IT and bragged about it when he went home for the holidays.
Shocked as heck when he was arrested.
What kind of hunter doesn’t positively ID what he’s shooting?
The idiot who shot the dog was probably shooting at sound because....it must be a deer or something
Oh Lord these people give hunters a bad name. We have a friend that hunts deer and bear. He’s come home early more than once because of yahoos in the woods.
They now have inline muzzle-loaders that are equal to a 30/06 and they are legal to use in southern Mi during gun deer season. Handguns are also legal.
You trying to promote your self up to a Darwin award, private property is private property. Since most deer and other other hunting in the United states happens on private property the statement of 500 hundred yards was stipid. Simple keep your dog in your yard and/are on a leash. No problem! And most parks have rules about letting animals run lose as well.
I suspected that 500yds was extreme so I found this:
It is illegal to discharge a firearm or bow:within 500 feet of a dwelling, farm building or structure in occupation or use unless you own it, lease it, are an immediate member of the family, an employee, or have the owner’s consent.

Okay, correction, “feet.”
Thanks.
Still, we have idiots who do just that.
decaff
Won’t work on yorkies.
Sorry but no hunter worth their salt doesn’t positively ID what they’re shooting. Yahoos with guns give serious sportsmen a bad name. And that won’t change just because you’re insulting.
Valium then!
Might work.
