Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, loser in the recent Venezuelan national referendum which would grant him increasing dictatorial powers, has ended his brief benevolence and contrition (if it ever was there) it would seem. But he did so with a backdrop of Venezuela's top military, sending a strong, yet somewhat shaky, staged subliminal message to his opponents.
The video (short, in Spanish) is at the link above and here: http://www.el-nacional.com/www/site/detalle_multimedia.php?q=med/5475

Watching the video a couple of times and it appears to me that the men do not look comfortable around Chavez.

—Note to the assembled Venezuelan generals and admirals: Don’t stand to close to Hugo. Something bad could happen to him at any time.

I wonder what Carter has to say about this..That he meant well and he'll keep trying until he gets it right?
The road to hell is paved with Democrat domestic and foreign policies.

I think you are right.
I noticed that too in the video.
And I dont think they are to particularly happy being dragged along with him like that.
My guess is a coup d'etat would be a no brainer, and could be pulled off by the brass, and everyone would be home just in time for suppa'.

You’re reading my mind.
That’s about what I was thinking, too.

The tape looks nothing like the picture you use. In fact, he looks a lot like the fat motivational instructor from Saturday Night Live.

When you are out of power, that’s a rallying cry. When you are the leader of your nation, surrounded by military officers and nationalized police, that can be nothing other than a death threat against all opposition.

What are all those ribbons and decorations for on the uniform of the guy with the mustache. Number of peaceful demonstrators shot? It’s not like the Venezuelan army has fought any other army for the past century.

Well when you start using price controls to STICK TO THE RICH SO YOU CAN HELP THE POOR and then everyone starts having to stand in long lines for everyday essentials you get beat. Of coarse thats what happens if the votes aren’t rigged. This guy is a dumb-ass. He really thought he could get the people of this country to voluntary vote themselves in to communist state. HEY HUGO you have to force people to do that! DUMB-ASS!

Speaking of “mierda”, it must suck to be Hugo and look in the mirror each morning and see a big old “floater” staring back.

If Chavez tried it, would the Venezuelan military voluntarily assist Chavez in a coup d'etat, overthrow him, or splinter? My money would be on one of them sticking a knife in his ribs.
