Excellent article. Saddam regime never stopped working on WMD programs in particular the Chemical Weapon program. They opted to make the precursors required for the Chemical weapons rather than produce the final product. First because they can always claim that the precursors are used for civilian industries since most of the precursors for chemical weapons are called dual use material i.e. it can be used in both civilian industries and chemical weapons. Second the shelf life of the individual precursors is longer than the assembled final chemical weapon. It would have only took them few weeks to build the final chemical weapon product once they have all the precursors ready.

PS: The Iranian terrorist regime is using similar tactics in their nuclear weapon program, i.e. build all the required enriched uranium to make the nuclear bomb and wait for the opportune moment to make the nukes.

He had WMD and those who deny it are either very stupid or in denial.

No, we do not have one giant smoking gun photo of the elephant because most of it is covered up (again) by the national security blanket of classification. But we do have enough snapshots from the Saddam files to make a reliable outline of the giant beast that was the Iraqi WMD program. At some point, we have to throw away all the denial arguments as ridiculous, and admit that the size of the evidence elephant is too overwhelming to ignore.

When all the major players have staked their reputations on the beast's non-existence, expect to be ignored unless you have a giant smoking gun.

Bush has chosen to sacrifice his own reputation and his own party's political future to protect Putin's rule in Russia. I guess the risk of a Zhirinovsky-type getting his hands on thermonuclear-tipped missiles was just deemed too great.

We seem to have a predisposition to massive self-deception.

Ofttimes I wonder if we can survive our fools...
