In his speech released yesterday Abou Omar Al Baghdadi the supposed leader of the Islamic State in Iraq which is Al Qaeda in Iraq said that only two hundered Mohajeroon are left in Iraq. Mohajeroon which means immigrants in Arabic are the foreign terrorists who came to fight in Iraq. This is yet the most stunning admission by Al Qaeda in Iraq that they are totally destroyed and from the tens of thousands of foreign terrorists they had, almost all of them are killed and captured and only two hundreds are left.
This is the quote translation of what Al Baghdadi said in his latest speech: “… with all that, the Mouhajeron in Mesopotamia left the world and went quickly to meet their lord after they sacrificed their money and their blood sometimes in the martyrdom operations and sometimes by throwing themselves in front of the enemy that only two hundreds Mouhajeron are left today in our beloved Iraq…"

No need to worry. AQI is a glory hounding machine that takes credit whenever it can. If they're not promoting fresh new attacks, the donations from Saudi financiers dries up, and the recruiting, local and foreign, dries up. They can't survive off of other people's successes. Especially not Shia ones.
I don't believe 200, only in that I don't think that AQI leadership could guess how many active members they have left to the nearest thousand. They're unpopular, broken, decentralized, and being hunted down left and right. Once their last VBIED cells are rounded up, they'll be unable to stage spectacular attacks, and the media coverage will evaporate. When that goes, they go. AQI is a media monster that can't survive without camera time.
The real fight will be with the Jaysh al Mahdi. But, how much does Iran really want to push us, now that they've got a breather from the NIE? They know that AQI is all but defeated, and JAM Special Groups will soon be getting our undivided attention. Why not quit while they're ahead? If they stop sending EFPs, (as opposed to slow down considerably, which they have done), we'll have no reason to attack them. A clean de-escalation for everyone.
We have been taking them to the woodshed as well. Not as agressively, because they have been mostly holding their fire.

I think this is spot-on.
There's no question that outstanding progress has been made. Consider this though, from the standpoint of enemy strategy- suspend operations, withdraw Iranian cross-border forces, and wait for political pressure to withdraw to mount- until it is successful. Then- you're still right there, with a regrouped and reconstituted force, and the Americans military infrastructure is mostly thousands of miles away.
Not saying that that's what this is, I'm saying that's what it could be. It's what I'd do if I were running the Jihadist show. And I trust the word of the enemy about as far as I can throw an MRAP.
The way to counter it would be to make absolutely certain that the Iraqis are as stable and defensively solid as they can be made to be before the American withdrawal ultimately takes place.

Comparing an Al Qaeda spokesman to my “cowboy hero”, Ronald Reagan, is a bit of a stretch isn’t it, Schlocky?
I think it is an indirect admission by Al Qaeda that it is all over for them in Iraq. Remember that Bin Laden basically said in his last speech about Iraq that "Darkness has turned in pitch black" and he basically gave up on Iraq.
