'Great discovery' led to Iran nuke change
By Jim Mannion in Washington

US President George W. Bush says a "great discovery" as recently as August prompted the US intelligence community's stunning reversal of its long-held view that Iran had an active nuclear weapons program.
Mr Bush today provided no details on the nature of the new intelligence, which set off an in-depth intelligence review of the evidence and assumptions that underpinned a 2005 assessment, which had held with "high confidence" that Iran was determined to acquire nuclear weapons.
Mike McConnell, the director of national intelligence, went to Mr Bush in August and said: "We have some new information."
"He didn't tell me what the information was. He did tell me it was going to take a while to analyse," Mr Bush said today.
Mr Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were not formally briefed until last Wednesday on the intelligence community's new finding that Iran had had a covert nuclear weapons program but halted it in 2003 - a bombshell with major implications for US policy.

Sorry, the authors of the aforementioned book interviewed heads of the Iraqi nuke weapons programme.
This was a checkmate presser, he essentially said 'y'all can read the NIE, but the parties interested know exactly where they stand.'
W is entirely transparent with his body language: when he's worried, he expresses it via tight, worried speech and stature; when he's triumphant you see loose, mellow, expressive, elaborate response to the press.
So exactly when did Israel come to the U.S. with new info on a certain Syrian riverside site??
I've read all of Clancy's novels (in the chronological order Clancy putatively intended), and several of Dave Hunt's books (agreeing nearly 100% with the doctrine presented), nevertheless I do dispute (quite vehemently) that "disinformation" is actually a word.
I've also read a great many of Heinlein's books.
There's a great deal of philosophical wisdom presented in Heinlein's many works, but I depart company from his ideologies in that he purports in large part ideas attributable in large part to concepts that ere pragmatically unworkable in the same sense as idealistic communism is. For that matter, practical communism is just as unworkable. I can't decide if the converse, i.e., libertarianism, is practically unworkable.
I'm inclined to feel that libertarianism, like communist/socialist ideals, is both unpractical and unpragmatic.
"Disinformation" is not a word. The point being that somethings been going on, is afoot, or is actively being covered up. Ask yourself: what motivation would the "victim" acquiesce to such "cover-up"?
And I'm not entertaining "supernatural" explanations. When that happens, in accordance to Christian/Jewish eschatology, everybody will know it (and there'll be a ready defense in place).
Whatever occured 6 Sept 07 is being as we speak at Annapolis. That the Rapture could occure the instant the "Annapolis Announcement" is presented is irrelevant and frankly, not germane, to the matter at hand.
Here and now, there will be no islamonukes in the ME as long as Israel stands. We got her back. If the islamos really, really want to push it, we're right there with the answer alongside Israel.
You pray Israel stays out of the mix? Israel is IN the mix, and will manage the situation, with our help as necessary.
Question...when did the Iranian General(former Def. Sec.) defect? And could he be the source of this new information. Also recently it was announced by Iran they replaced there main guy at the nuclear talks....and have since charged he was spying for the Brits...he could be the source and ..was blown getting us the newest info.
