The U.S. government admitted today in federal court that the prosecution's star witness in the criminal trial of Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean confessed drug dealer Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila lied under oath. "He told some lies on the stand," Mark Stelmach, the assistant U.S. attorney representing prosecutor U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton said under questioning by a three-judge 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel in New Orleans

Just hope the Bush Admin doesnt pressure the judges.
Otherwise I would not be surprised if this conviction is overturned. Its not a good sign prosecutors admitting that a key witness “lied” on the stand.
There also needs to be a criminal investigation conducted on all those who prosecuted and assisted.

Since he hasn’t done it in well over a year, he’s not going to do it. He WANTS more illegal aliens in the US and this is a message he sent to the BP not to interfere.

Many life sentences and death row sentences have been overturned when it’s found the prosecutions lead witness lied under oath (that’s perjury to everyone but Clinton).
Ramos and Compean should be released on this fact alone.

Didn’t Señor Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila kiss his immunity good-bye when he lied under oath?
If Señor Sutton knew this and did not prosecute the alleged dope runner, shouldn’t Señor Sutton kiss his job adios?

Ouch!
That one should come back to sting Sutton in the posterior.
If the assistant US attorney knew Aldrete-Davila lied under oath, why didn't US attorney Sutton know? This shows collusion or incompetence on Sutton's part.

With the forthcoming elections, I think he is trying to avoid making waves and hurting Republican candidates.
BS
He was overtly pushing for their imprisonment before the 06 elections. He didn't care then, why would he care now?

I bet little ( and I mean little ) Johnny Sutton is regretting the day he ever decided to prosecute this case. He' s gonna wind up as the Nifong of the DoJ.

Wheres the pardon, Mr. President?
If these kinds of developments continue, the judge(s) may overturn the verdict. That would be better than a pardon. Of course, that would reflect poorly on GW, on Alberto G, and on US Atty Sutton.

Isn’t it something. President Bush, and the Democrats, and way too many republicans were more than happy to try and force something that only the democrats and the chamber of commerce could want.
When the capital switchboard collapses because of the overwhelming number of calls against a bill are coming in, those against can not be said to be a small vocal minority.
I wish all those in favor could explain precisely why they are so willing to cheapen US citizenship to such a level.
Yes, I’m pointing my finger at the OBL.

And if Sutton knew they were lies at the time he testified, but didnt inform the Court, what then of Sutton?
sounds similar to the Nifong case re: Duke lacrosse. Clearly this was an abuse of power abd Sutton must be made accountable. Under the color of authority Sutton has committed serious criminal acts.

Johnny Sutton should do hard time for as many years as the BP agents were sentenced.

Seems like Sutton should be facing some kind of charges himself if his star witness lied and Sutton knew. Of course he knew, and worked to get lots of information kept from the jury(ies).
To: dynachrome
This never should have happened in the first place. It has done SERIOUS political damage to the president.
How on earth could the Democrats play it against him, if he intervened on behalf of two HISPANIC border agents who were trying to capture a notorious drug smuggler?
If anything, this would be a third rail for the Democrats, because they already angered a lot of THEIR constituents when they pushed for illegal amnesty. That was not a popular idea with unions or blacks or most of their regular supporters. How is it going to help them to weigh in on the side of a scummy drug smuggler?

I said it last summer and I meant it. My lifetime of voting Republican ended last summer.
There are very few jobs the Founders left for the Federal Government. Border security was one of them.
I will vote Libertarian or maybe Constitution Party, hell I won’t even commit to never voting Democrat. But I was betrayed by my party.
