Hillary Honesty Deficit (Hillary's Lying And Scheming Is Bringing Her Down Alert)

The honesty and transparency themes are driving much of voter sentiment in this election. It helps explain the surprising success of Republican candidate Mike Huckabee. And we see similar dynamics with the Democratic candidates.

Consider a "The Economist/YouGov'' poll out last week.

When Democratic voters were asked which phrases they would use to describe their candidates, results included the following:

* Honesty: Obama 54 percent, Clinton 35 percent.

* Moral: Obama 54 percent, Clinton 34 percent.

* Religious: Obama 29 percent, Clinton 19 percent.

* Says what he/she believes: Obama 60 percent, Clinton 39 percent.

Clinton's growing image of untrustworthiness is taking a toll. Obama now leads in Iowa, and the gap between him and Clinton is tightening in other state and national polls. Now, just out, is a poll by John Zogby showing Clinton losing in races against every Republican candidate. Yet, Zogby's poll shows Obama or Edwards winning these same races.

It's more than perception. Dishonesty defines Clinton's campaign.

Layered upon the wholesale dishonesty that defines Clinton's presidential campaign is a projected arrogance that it doesn't matter, that somehow this nomination and this election belong to her, regardless of what she says or does.

Voters, of course, will have the final say on this.

Hillary Clinton's dishonesty is hurting her with the voters. A similar dynamic is at work on the Republican side. Voters can accept a candidate might not necessarily agree with them for reasons of conviction. But they've had it with candidates lying and scheming their way to higher office. You might say the Age Of Moral Absolutes is back. And that puts Mrs. Clinton at a disdadvantage.

She is totally on script and when she is thrown off that script she falters badly.
She is negative, is wrong on a bunch of major issues and failed at health care before.

As long as she thinks people will buy what they want to hear. She doesn't have any real convictions. Contrast that with Mike Huckabee's stand on illegal children. I think he's dead wrong on that but at the same time, he's not changing a heartfelt conviction just to win votes. I can respect someone who is honest enough to stand up for what he thinks is right as long as he levels with me. Hillary just changes her position like a political weathervane and everything about the woman is artifice and political calculation. Take her stand on illegals. She never says what she believes. No one could pin her down on illegals drivers' licenses. Hillary just can't be honest and tell people the truth. I don't think we want someone like her to be President where life and death decisions are involved. So I think people are looking for more than just the lesser of two evils in the coming election year.

There is none. I defy any one to find a moral core to Hillary Clinton. Her idea of politics is to sell herself to the lowest bidder and toss ethics aside if it will help get her to the top. I think Sir Thomas More had a rejoinder: "what profit a man to win the entire world but lose his soul?" Hillary lost hers a long time ago.

Six months ago the Hillary Express looked inevitable. As we approach winter, things look a lot different now.

Scruples have never stopped her and she has always been blessed by circumstance and weak opponents.

THAT's what scares me worse than anything else in this election. It's going to be total hell on Earth if she wins.
