He's played a politician on TV and in real life. Now Fred Thompson wants to be president. He and his wife join Larry to talk about the upcoming primary and their personal life.

My Dad taught me the same thing. he was a Kansas boy.
I frankly don’t think most people are going to care about their age difference.
Y’all s’cuse me for a minute whilst I make a small donation to JimRob for acts of charity and goodwill!
BWAHAAHAHA!!
I have to save my $$ for FRed right now. I’ll remember this during the next FR fundraiser. Heehehee
It was worth five times what I can spare right now. :)
Hope you're right.
Replay is on right now, on CNN, for all who missed it earlier.
BUT........Fred’s not the only one with a beautiful, talented, younger wife.
Larry King’s wife (Shawn) is beautiful and talented, too. Check out this clip with Willie Nelson:

My favorite is her CD, “In My Own Back Yard”.
My nephew is LAPD homicide in South Central, having spent the 10 previous years on the gang and drug task force in the same area. If it were to all go south hes the person I know who Id most like to have at my back. He was a typical California education system liberal growing up and I kept telling him to dial it back some all those years, while trying to guide him to reality through a fog of conventional PC wisdom. He grew up and decided he wanted to be a writer and to do that he needed life experience and where better to get that than as a cop? He joined up and chose the hardest of the hard in LA. Within two years he was quickly becoming more conservative (in a very complex and interesting way) than I am. But I still keep telling him to dial it back some <g>. (if you'd be interested I can provide a link to some interviews with him and press about him via FReepmail - he's written a very good (but rough) police novel that has been published and also optioned for the movies)
Hes really smart, honorable and an incredibly GOOD PERSON and hes also got some of the best moves and combat judgment (so far as my untrained senses can detect) there are. Those are the folks to keep around you if it all goes south. Too bad hes so far from here!
I just watched it. Fred and Jeri were great!
Larry King has a large audience, and his Friday shows re-run on the weekend, IIRC.
Go, Fred, GO! Woo Hoo!
Age means nothing. I do know that Fred owns an expensive shotgun that would make Dick Cheney drool on his little ducks.
Faux News?
Good grief — I didn’t know that about Krauthammer — he’s a radical gun-grabber???
That’s a real shame — I’ve always had a lot of respect for him. I don’t say he’s a bad person because of these views, but I certainly lose any regard for his commentary if he is that ignorant about history, tyranny and the Constitution.
Whatever happens with this election, I am seeing a major realignment in the GOP-sphere. The truth is bursting out all over, and in many cases it’s not pretty.
amazing how many here don’t know about Krauthammer
he’s just a reformed liberal from the New Republic....a NeoCon
like Barnes....same exact MO
we have just had 7 years of NeoCon leadership.....I’m not crazy about it.
I know quite a few people that were supporters of Thompson before he announced. They droned on endlessly about how Fred would energize the race and so on and so on. Maybe one of those folks is still a supporter of Fred. And we are Southerners. Fred's delivery has nothing to do with a Southern drawl. It has to do with the fact he's boring and recites the same tired nonsense of most of the other candidates. Bless his poor heart but he sounds like my 94 year old grandfather. A good man but nobody I'd leave alone running a nation.
I'm curious whether you'd say the same things about Rush? On the same page with the Larry King interview is an audio clip from Rush. If you listen you'll hear him stammer and say "ahhh" quite often. In my experience it's a trait of those whose mind is working faster than they are able to get the words out.
That’s exactly right, jellybean. Another interviewee I heard recently uttered a lot of ahs and ums, and that was Duncan Hunter. So, it is NOT something unique to Fred Thompson. I agree with you about the mind going faster than the mouth allows.
I think it’s perfectly fine. I’d rather hear ahs and ums than, “like ya know”.
I’d also rather hear a lot of ahhs and umms as long as there is substance rather than a bunch of words strung together that sound good, but have no meaning.
