The Death Of The Bush Doctrine
jewishpress.com ^ | November 28, 2007 | Caroline Glick

At Annapolis this week, President George W. Bush buried his doctrine. The Bush Doctrine was based upon a simple statement the president made in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 jihadist attacks on America.

“Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime,” Bush announced to the roaring applause of both houses of Congress.

The message emanating from Annapolis was exactly the opposite. What the administration effectively said was, “The more you support terrorists, the harder the U.S. will work to appease you.”

The price the U.S. and its allies who are fighting terrorism will pay for this abandonment of strategic wisdom will be steep. And Israel won’t be the only state to suffer.

Much attention has reasonably been paid to the threat the effects of Annapolis conference pose to Israel’s long-term security. The conference was based on a diplomatic framework unprecedented in its hostility to basic Israeli security concerns.

It hasn't just been Annapolis either. He has continued to demand Israel refrain from constructing walls and taking other preventative measures to end the terrorism against it.

That and our immigration policies are the main reasons why I have to qualify every comment of support for his WOT efforts.

Although the Annapolis conference was pooh-poohed by many as nothing more than a sound and light show, the fact is that it was an event of enormous significance. It was the funeral for the Bush Doctrine. At Annapolis the administration embraced appeasement as a strategy. All committed to the defeat of jihad should be crying bloody murder.

I'm just crying...

George W. Bush is going to go out of his office at the same level he came into his office.

He was treated as a joke before 9/11/01, so now he will be a joke after 1/20/08.

Well, it is sad. There are so many policies that wreak these days. Doubling the budget of the Department of Education when it should have been abolished. Creating another Great Society program. Our China policy. Our immigration policies...

Is it any wonder why folks like myself are saying they just won’t vote for any more RINOs?

Too bad it couldn’t have been the other way around. He could have surprised many of us. Instead...

Actually, he was very clear what he wanted to do before he was elected. Immigration, Education, medication enhancements... he pretty well laid it out there.

As for his spotty fulfillment of his initial terrorism pronouncments, I don’t know what happened. Someone entered some language in one of his speaches that made him paint himself into a corner.

I don’t think he considers the Palestinians to be terrorists. What are Fatah and Hamas if not terrorist organizations?

What irony considering that many leftist moonbats claim that we invaded Iraq at the behest of the 'neocons', er, Jews.

I heard a caller ask Pat Buchanan about what's up with Bush and Annapolis, and Pat said he thinks Bush is letting Condi have a final stab at a legacy, since she got booted out of Egypt, NK's been a disaster, etc, etc, etc.

Anyone who thinks that a 3000 year old tribal war will be solved through diplomacy - especially when one side is composed of members of a death cult - is too stupid and naive to be trusted with public office.

Amnesty for illegals is a good idea too, eh Jorge?

Based on international aid given to Palestine, Bosnia, and other pro-Islam groups, Bush is with the terrorists....

This is amazing. No Bushbots yet to defend Bush and explain how it’s all part of a brilliant plan Bush has. Pretty soon, I’ll bet.

He met with the man because that’s his job.

He’s holding hands because he wants to.

Is it just me, or do others notice that since 9-11-01, we have been bowing more and more to the Islamic people?

We are allowing Mosques in every city, we are taking away our Christmas and Easter traditions because it insults the Muslims, we are allowing our airports to employ Muslims by the thousands, the Dubai Ports Deal, the Arabs buying out Citigroup, footwashing sinks and prayer rooms at all our airports, Muslims getting voted into public offices, Muslim taxi drivers refusing to carry passengers that have a seeing eye dog or those carrying alcohol, Muslim grocery workers that refuse to touch pork products, Muslims sueing large Airline companies because they have been ‘profiled’..........the list goes on and on.

I am confused, I guess. I thought it was Muslims that killed over 3,000 on September 11. But, all those that are here in our country now, are good guys, right?
